I guess I'll quote myself from the sorc forum:

I guess it depends on how the class plays in practice. Nuke and CC sounds simple on paper but it doesn't really say much how it feels to play in PVP. If I don't feel really powerful, like I'm sowing death and destruction on a massive scale, I'll probably end up rolling a gladiator for the Incredible Hulk factor. I just love the concept of going GRRAWRRRRR!!, throwing myself at the enemy and hacking it to bits in a raging frenzy. Obviously only two-handed weapons, preferably swords or axes, are allowed with the possible exception being dual wielded one-handed axes. One-handed swords and daggers are for girls. :P
That is why I rolled warrior rather than mage in WoW. The spell effects are really pathetic, I wanted to blow up my enemies, not toss glowing pieces of coal or snowballs at them. The warrior on the other hand was excellent for ME SMASH!! /roar.

So basically, I'm looking at gladiator and sorcerer the most right now.
Also, it's true that melee in general are weak in massive scale PVP, which is why Aion needs to incorporate mechanics that either allow melees to live in such situations or mechanics that encourage smaller scale battles. When you have a critical mass of ranged nukers, it doesn't matter how many healers are watching your back, you'll go down in a split second anyway. This is why melee vs. ranged is incredibly difficult to balance in a game with both small and large scale battles.
Even in WoW it was sometimes hard to be a warrior. The 40 vs 40 battles of early Alterac Valley were really rough on melee unless you had a private healer or two focusing on you, in which case you could act as a battering ram and sweep right through the enemy lines like a hot knife through butter.
