Just read the first few posts so don't know if this has been mentioned. They should make servers language specific. Having everyone on the same servers creates that language barrier that is really hard to get over. FFXI was a good example of this. It had an autotranslator function built in the chat but was missing a lot of key things.
Or just have server(s) set as international and let the others be region specific. I can't speak anything other than English and I'd prefer everyone I meet to be able to speak it. I don't mind people from other countries, I've met some really fun people from Japan and Europe playing the various MMOs I've been on but it still doesn't change the fact I can't speak their language.
I get irritated when I see general chat that I can't understand. Maybe I'm the only one.
