Im almost sure many things will remind you WoW's ones, however, the daily activity endgame is going to differ a lot, and that's what makes you feel it's a clone or not. While in WoW you wait for the raiding day and while that happens you level alts or go to arena for some pvp ranks, in Aion you'll be killing mobs in a pvp zone, going to the opposite's faction lands through rifts to kill their NPCs and conquering castles for your faction, while you'll be raiding as soon as those mobs spawn since they are in open world, thus requiring pvp competition.
We can see Aion might be a bit more group dependant than WoW, and deffinetly more pvp dependant.
About low level ganking, that's not happening in Aion, since there is no complete freedom to walk on the opposite land's fields, NPCs will try to kill you, and sneaking from the rift zone to the lowbie zone is going to be quite hard to do since everyone will chase you. And, even if you manage to arrive, there might be no pvp in that zone, the first zone is channeled, and a high level from the opposite faction might be waiting there.
