Yes it's the p35 chipset there is also to later chipsets x38 and x48 basicly the same chips but improved, all of them have crossfire.
On nvidia's side we have 760i, 780i, 790i all support sli but are abit more unstabile then the intelchips usely runs a intel cpu abit slower then a intelchip.
to beat the x38 you would have to go with the 790i which is 50% more expensive then x38.
P35 is the pre version of the x38 it doesn't have all the nice stuff x38 does but P35 is more then 50% cheaper then x38.
At the end it's all about how much you are going to build on the computer and how much you have to spend on it that matters.
If you are going for single videocard it's a intelchip you need.
*edit* after reading up i saw that the 760i is not a bad chip
