As it is, the portals can get chars around the tricky details, but if the devs plan on implementing this "tier system" of abyss locations, would these locations have to be mirrored in orientation? The abyss should be like super mario galaxy. Problem solved.

The Abyss itself is on an other dimensional plane, its a breach between worlds. It has a core (middle layer of all), where gravitation (applied in Abyss) is originated from. Abyss and Atreia are two different physical planes, different rules, different reality. The atreian gravity does not affect the Abyss.
