Both can take Skill. But mostly (excluding very few exceptions), they don't. Simple reason: MMORPGs are about profit more than anything. Cause MMORPGs are expensive. More expensive than any other gaming genre. Way more. Thinking up complex systems costs money. Implementing them costs money. Balancing them costs money and in the end, many people who are playing MMORPGs aren't doing it for the quality of the game itself.
In the end, player-skill is just not important for companies, hence their developers in MMORPGs. It doesn't bring them more money, but rather even less. Since MMORPGs are all about profit (almost), required player-skill tends to be not welcome, cause it's expensive and doesn't certainly make profit.
Yea, the genre sucks and it won't change unless someone like me would get the money and make one. But then I'd probably rather help real people with real problems who are in the need of it with it, so you guys are doomed down to bad MMORPGs forever. But hey, it's all relative. Just predict you'd suck at gaming, maybe it'll be more fun in that case.
If Aion isn't gonna prove me wrong, I'm done with MMORPGs.
