Well both films were made on different times, so people's tastes differ over the years, and both have their own uniqueness towards action.

I liked both of them regardless and I grew up on watching most of Jackie's films back then, his films had a sense of humor to it back then. The final scene in Equilibrium is pretty cool, but in real life it's kinda hard do that sort of thing, I would be pretty darn scared when blocking shooting guns in melee personally.

Ong Bak was pretty crazy with the fighting scenes, and if you watch the later films, it gets even more crazy.
