It's a fantasy game indeed, but does that mean we abandon all logic?
Casters are fragile, just like Assassins don't use big/slow weapons, because they're supposed to be light weight for swiftness, stealth and camouflage. Who am I to say how a Assassin should be in Aion? Oh sorry I just thought that when you roll a class there's certain standards, if there wasn't we wouldn't know what choosing that specific class was about. If they wanted something different they should have created classes unique to Aion, not twist and turn on already familiar classes. When I choose Assassin it's cause I like what they're all about, now if you change that you're ruining the class which I know and love. Sure I can refrain from ever using a pole arm, but I'll see others like me swinging big phat pole arms around, that's just not the Assassin. Don't try to change lore that where there since the beginning of RPG's. Please.

actually i come from a game where all the casters wear the heaviest armor for high phy def and all the Melees wear robes for high mag def. I liked it. Ppl had options. I'd love to fight a caster in this game who wears Heavy Armor. It'd be a great challenge and would involve more strategy and tactics when using the stigma system and when using my skills. I hope ppl like you don't complain to the developers after CBT3 and if they do i hope they understand the real problem. I can really see them nerfing the stigma system because players like you would complain that it doesn't fit your standard.
Duel Dagger Assassin
Duel Short Sword Assassin
Short Sword main Dagger off-hand Assassin
Dagger main Short Sword off-hand Assassin
Polearm Assassin
Long Sword Assassin
Duel Mace Assassin
Mace main Dagger off-hand Assassin
Mace main Short Sword off-hand Assassin
Dagger main Mace off-hand Assassin
Short Sword main Mace off-hand Assassin
(i know mace is for Clerics but it does physical damage too)
All of those combinations using just weapon stigma alone. We haven't taken into account what other stigma could be available including Armor and (hopefully but limited) Skill Stigma. I'd LOVE to see this game where an assassin could go so many routes and achieve something worthwhile be it faster attacks, longer reach, more damage, higher crit rate, more defense, whatever. I'd like to see all of these build having some practical use just to keep things interesting and varied. I don't care if assassins aren't supposed to uses maces if it gives a boost in magic defense while you have a dagger for crit on your main hand and because of this you can handle sorcerers more easily than its a win. It gives the game a real custom feel and yes i could see how it could end up totally out of control and imbalanced but if its done right you'll end up with alot of different builds for alot of different playing styles and purposes and thats what keep PvP, which plays a huge part in this game, interesting, its a challenge and you never know what your about to go up against because even if its an Assassin they could be anyone of the types mentioned above and each of them should pose a unique challenge. The system needs Pros/Cons balance like Aggelos and others including myself have been saying, not a total nuking of the system. I don't want to hear "Assassins CAN'T use such-and-such melee weapon". I want to hear Assassin using such-and-such melee weapon CAN do....."
Thats what i pictured when i heard of the stigma system. I pictured tons of custom build with a different purposes that could all give your character an equal edge depending on how you use it. I don't like rock-paper-scissors PvP and i don't like it when EVERY build you meet is exactly the same, all warriors using the same tactics, all wizards using the same tactics, etc. Its boring. Aion has a chance to do somethign very unique here and it'd be a shame if they threw it all away just becuase ppl like you think everyone should stick to the same mold so we have a PvP game where every assassin is using the same skills, tactics, and weapons.....
