A good example would be archers in L2. You pretty much only needed to rely on your crit rate because it would out damage most of your skills (until the much higher lvls anyway). I just wouldn't want assassins (or any class for that matter) to be an "auto-attack and win" class due to superior dps + an ungodly critical rate (and possibly even very high evasion as well). Of course, I have more faith in Aion's combat mechanics than that, plus the skill chaining is at least a pretty good sign that that wouldn't be the case anyhow.

The archer skills are double shot and power shot. Power shot you stop learning at level 36, might be half your problem right there jk

Double shot however was designed to be used against [1] ue'd (evasion increased) characters, because skills nvr missed and [2] high pdef characters (tanks) because pdef played way less of a factor concerning damage dealt and deflect arrow didn't work against said skill. They also came in nice if you ran out of arrows
As far as the Assassin being an "auto-attack and win" it prolly will be. With there being a limited amount of classes, whats the chances you coming across a class with root, slow, paralysis, ...? Damn scary chances imo, especially when you consider the assassins role. Its not other melee classes a dagger is afraid of its movement hindering skills. Those are the real 1-shot victories. All said, Assassins are gonna hit hard. All imo ofc
