FFXI's system for arrows was awesome. there were many different kinds of arrows that caused status effects (like silence, sleep, posion, def down) in exchange for dmg and you could change ammo every shot. each arrow had a lv needed to equip it, and different dmg values that differed depending on the weapon, for example dmg from guns came mostly from the bullet (EX: gun has 45dmg, bullet had 80dmg) while bows got their dmg from the bow itself (EX: bow had 90dmg, arrow had 30dmg)
The problem with it was, only the low level arrows with no additional stats were buyable from vendors... so basicly every ranged ammo type were crafted by players. And anyone who has played can tell you that the crafting system isnt easy to level up. Thus ammo was EXPENSIVE!. and with gil hard enough to come by as it is only the rich could really play Ranger. This was more so the fault of the crafting system + gil system but still.
A system like FFXI has would be awesome... just with more availability in the arrow types. Im not saying make ALL arrow types dirt cheap but at least have cheap basic arrows so you can at least play Ranger without breaking your wallet.
