As for this matter, I don't know anything that's for sure. What I know for sure is that I go for full damage-dealing on my sorcerer. Screw defense, I don't mind dying if you can respawn near the action and with not too insane respawn time.

well thats what a sorc is suppose to be, nuke then die, nuke then die and so on.
