Now the Hero System itself is not a bad thing at all, in any level, but the fact that ppl cannot advance further (at least till the first big patch/expansion) in pvp ranks are troubling (accessing all -most- content of endgame leaving no goals behind).
Problem is that as soon as they max out Abyss Ranks (doesnt even need to reach the last 3 ranks, coz that only few can achieve and the others stay without content), an important part of the endgame vanishes with that achievement . As ppl are gettng closer to complete endgame pvpve content (as far as gears and Abyss Points go - + what's the point of pvp -beside fun- if not to be the best in skills and achivements), ppl are gonna acquire more and more Abyss Points. Since they don't need to spend it, they take it out of rotation and by the time new ranks appear (would be quite hard to implement more into this though, since they cant just add new one after the one you becoming a Hero), it becomes way more easier to achieve those and ultimately the point of the AP system will lost (e.g. having an endgame, continous goal what keep players ingame).
Kill/death ratio as requirement for higher ranks are somewhat helping to slow down this process, but in the end, it doesn't really chance that much. Alas quite a few games fall into this already.
They should change rank requirements or add more ranks (with proper content) prior the the last 3 ranks soon or ppl will abandon the game after the first 6-8 months.
