The creation of the Abyss
The Abyss was created as a result of the destruction of the Tower of Eternity. The debris and chunks of Elyos and Asmodian landscape is what consists of the 'islands' in the Abyss.
The Abyss is dangerous, but offers much experience as well as items, materials, and Abyss-exclusive items that can only be purchased through Abyss points.
Flight is unrestricted in all of Abyss but there is still a time limit. Abyss is the region where the three races will meet and engage in RvR.

The Abyss as a whole is a free-flight zone. Players can decide to attack from either the air or from the ground.

Devanion Mist hinders or completely disables faction PvP in the effected area by limiting the players' vision, but makes PvE uneffected.

There will be offensive, recovery, buff, debuff and various other types of artifacts available. These region-specific artifacts will add variety to the strategy of the battle.

▲Reasons why you should participate in PvP
The Abyss offers higher exp. gain as well as materials needed to craft draconic items, and quests exclusive to the region. Abyss items can also be gained by using Abyss points.
There are also title-specific skills, which can only be gained by obtaining an Abyss title. These skills will make the player more powerful than the average player.
The relationship between the guild and the players is very similar to the relationship of consumer vs. producer.
요새가 유지되기 위해서는 플레이어들의 해당 요새에 대한 “투자”가 이루어져야 한다. 요새 배당금은 일종의 “주식”이라고 볼 수 있다. 이런 배당금을 통한 수익과 요새 내의 세금들을 통해 요새가 운영되기 위해 필요한 자금을 획득하게 된다.
In order for the fortress to maintain itself, players need to 'invest.' The dividend can be seen as a type of 'stock.' Through the dividend and taxes the guild is able to obtain the funds required to maintain the fortress.
이를 반대로 생각하면, 리니지 때 특정 길드의 횡포로 플레이가 불가능하던 모습들을 더 이상 만날 수 없다는 뜻도 된다. 만약 A요새를 점령하고 있는 길드가 유저들에게 불친절한 태도를 일관하고 사냥터나 채집 구역을 독점하는 방식의 횡포를 부리게 된다면, 유저들은 A요새에 대한 접근 및 투자를 하지 않게 되어 결국 요새 자체를 유지시킬 자금이 완전히 고갈될 수밖에 없다. 요새가 유지되기 위해서는 요새를 방문하고 이용하는 유저가 필요하다. 더 이상 길드의 독점은 아이온에서는 만나기 힘들어질 것이다.
What this means for the players? It means that a guild won't be able to impose tyrannical rule over the fortress as seen in Lineage. If a guild occupying fortress A was being obnoxious and kept the hunting/collecting zones for themselves, the guild will lose investors and become bankrupt. The fortress requires players that utilise the facility to maintain itself, and an unreasonable guild will lose investors/visitors and become unable to finance itself.
그리고 길드 배너는 그들이 점령한 요새, 점령한 아티팩트에 새겨지게 되고 매우 높은 순위 안에 드는 길드의 경우 대도시에서도 그들의 배너를 만날 수 있다.
The guild crests will be engraved on captured artifacts and the fortress, and if the guild's ranking was high enough, the guild's crest will also be seen in the major city.

Abyss also features diverse environments. For example, if a player were to approach too close to a sun-like object, he/she will take damage. If the player were to walk on frozen surface, he/she will have difficulty controlling the character because of its slippery surface. There are many other factors that can effect the players such as waterfalls and lava.

The colossus(note: this is just my translation, it is actually referred to as 'giant monster,' literally.)
If draconic carriers were designed for aerial raids, then these colossus(es)? were designed for ground combat. These monsters will be different than any monsters shown in previous MMOs. To say it short, these are the guys/things that existed long before the Elyos/Asmodians, and were awoken along with the destruction of the Tower of Eternity.
The colossus do not belong to the elyos, asmodians, nor the balaur. They are enemies to all three races.
