Hey bro, it would help if we know the rest of your PC components, like processor, ram etc.

However, the 9800GTX is a very large upgrade compared to a 8600. A 9800GTX would run Aion beautifully.

Edit: With regards to the current problems you're having, try completely uninstalling your nvidia drivers, and reinstalling them.
