However, the 9800GTX is a very large upgrade compared to a 8600. A 9800GTX would run Aion beautifully.

Echoing this. Also, what does the error message say? In addition, what resolution are you playing at?
I would recommend shopping at newegg.com for a video card in general, but that's not a bad price for a 9800GTX I guess.
