A lesson on lore

Ok, as some of you might've noticed, a lot of threads are turning into a flame war where one side is saying, "Asmodians are evil, they killed the balaur to start the Epic Cataclysm! All Elyos want is peace! We're so good! Like angels!" I'm not here to tell you that's ... 'wrong' but rather to shed some light on this a little bit so you can make educated comments instead of stereotypical ones. I'll use quotes from both sides of the story of Aion to explain.

First I want to say that both sides, Asmodian and Elyos, are bad, but neither of them are evil. They're both humans except one is disfigured and angry.

Quote:
After the Epic Cataclysm we were thrust into darkness and the unknown, where we had no other choice than to adapt and to survive. Each and every day our world taught us something new, opening our eyes to new possibilities and giving us the unwavering strength to rebuild our lives once again.
They're not disfigured because they're monsters, it's because they got screwed over by an Empyrean Lord's decision, Israphel, to invite the balaur inside their tower which was protected by a magic bubble to keep everyone safe.

Now here's a quote that gave everyone and their mother the wrong idea.
Quote:
As a mark of respect to the five Dragon Lords, the Aetheric Field around the tower was lowered, and they were invited inside this colossal structure for the negotiations. A lifetime passed in the space of a few minutes. I looked into the eyes of my legionaries, and saw the mistrust and anger that our convictions had been so weak as to let these beasts, which would have us kneel before them even now, treat with us. I turned to my most trusted centurion, and went to speak with him, when, as quick as a click of a finger, everything changed. There was shouting, confusion, a rout. One of the Balaur had fallen, and Lord Asphel was standing ready to fight, his eyes blazing.
About that last part; where in the world does it say he killed one of the Balaur? do you guys see it? That was quoted from the Asmodian book. Now let's look at what the Elyos say about this event.

Quote:
Then, in a moment's breath, it happened.

We still speak of the events that followed that day, of the sudden shouts of panic, of the sickening certainty that gripped us all: the warmongers would have their way, even if they had to sacrifice all of Atreia to achieve it. We saw Asphel move swiftly and suddenly, and the Dragon Lord Vitra collapse. The Balaur did not waste time with words. In an instant, there was carnage and chaos.
I'm still looking for the part where Asphel (Asmodian leader) killed the Balaur. He could have done it, but there is simply not enough evidence. To be more reasonable, consider this: The Balaur planned all along to destroy the tower. They setup a plan to kill their fellow dragon lord Vitra in order to cause a commotion and make a break for the tower. Asphel was ready for battle as soon as they entered their home. He watched them closely and noticed one of the Balaur drawing a weapon to kill Vitra (this is where you see Asphel move swiftly across the floor).

Since some of you don't understand what i said above this, I'm saying one of the Balaur that was invited into the tower KILLED their OWN Dragon Lord in order to cause a commotion. All of the Balaur's infantry were waiting outside and when the Lord was killed **** hit the fan, no one knew what to do and the magic bubble was down.

To provide proof for my idea of the balaur killing their own dragon lord, I'll show you this picture biography taken from a wiki site:

Do you see it? "When the Balaur betrayed the agreement and instead launched an attack"

Does everyone understand now? neither side did anything, they just came up with stories to bash the other side and blame them for the cataclysm when it was indeed the balaur all along. Now, it WAS the two lords, Israphel and Siel, that are at fault. They are the ones who wanted to go through with this peace treaty, however the Elyos followers only agreed. The Elyos as a race are fine, they didn't do anything. When the Asmodians confonted the Elyos in the Abyss, they didn't curse them, they told them to curse their lords... because after all it WAS their fault, not the Elyos. It was only the two dead lords that messed up but sacrificed themselves to save us all.

My thoughts are, just as Israphel and his followers wanted peace, the other half of the humans did not. This could very well be the same case with the Balaur where Lord Vitra wanted peace but the others didn't and planned to kill him once they entered the tower as Vitra could potentially stop their attack or they simply wanted him dead for his weakness. Also, the picture biography points to only one thing and that is the balaur betraying the agreement. if Asphel had actually killed the Balaur, it would say under Asphels biography that HE betrayed the peace agreement instead of the Balaur.

Now we're fighting over something that wasn't either sides fault. Isn't this game just awesome?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But, it's up to your imagination. They made the lore this way for a reason and i personally think it's a smart way to do it. My thoughts are basically, Asphel wasn't that stupid to kill one of the lords while the magic bubble was down, that would be down right stupid. He would have to be completely brain AFK to pull off a move like that. You also have to take into consideration that the Balaur have been slaughtering the humans for years not to mention every other animal that lived amongst them. They would watch as the Balaur swept away their women and children and made a vow to avenge them, hence the saying, "Blood for blood!"

The Empyrean Lord, Israphel made a dire mistake by inviting the Balaur inside while their intentions had nothing to do with peace. This is why in certain parts of the lore, the asmodians tell the Elyos to curse their lords because they have ruined the Asmodian's life. The asmodians aren't evil, they're just upset and want revenge. Sounds reasonable right?

I won't go into all the stories of the horrible things the Elyos did as that would make me sound biased but I will tell you they DID do bad things, Asmodians as well.

You can find both books here:
Book of the Elyos | Aion
Book of the Asmodians | Aion

So tell me, who are the real bad guys? The Balaur or the Asmodians?
