IC: Knite
Outside the Fortress
An explosion erupted behind him and he smiled to himself knowing whatever had gone after Gahr had hugely under-estimated what they were attacking. The explosion caught the attention of a few more of the Balaur bringing up the back as well. They turned to see Knite standing tall with his head slightly lowered. His shield and sword were gripped loose at his sides. Raising his head to meet their angry stares, he pulled his shield up and banged on its front a few times with the hilt of his sword as he stepped a foot forward and readied himself into a defensive stance.
The three charged, one after another towards him. As the first drew near, Knite took a step forward and with a full wind up, swung his shield in an arc in front of him, catching the first assailant across the face and causing him to stumble off to the side, dazed. With a fluid motion, he took step in and brought his sword around from above his right shoulder diagonally down the chest of the second Balaur, stepping forward and turning as the sword scraped the ground by his left foot after completing its arc. Continuing the fluid attack, his body turned and he threw his weight into an elbow into the sternum of the third foe, followed by a backhand swipe of his blade that slit the enemy's neck.
Now back to the first. he thought to himself, but a moment too late. The first had regained its composure and slammed its mace between his armored shoulder blades hard, causing him to stumble forward into a roll. Now Knite was back on the defensive. Blocks and parries countered a frenzy of powerful swings as Knite almost ran backwards against the enemy's onslaught. A quick glance behind him showed a large boulder in the path and upon reaching it, he dug his heel behind him onto the stone and pushed forward with his leg and shield surprising the Balaur who was caught up in his own momentum and knocking him into his tail. Knite stood for a brief second and stared at the creature before bringing his shield across its face hard, snapping its neck.
In front of him, another group of Balaur had taken notice to the happenings and as they began to advance, the skies filled with clouds and streaks of lightning ended their short retaliation. Looking up, expecting to see Gahr, Knite was surprised to see another he hadn't seen before. A quick nod showed his appreciation, but now was not the time for small talk. Knite stretched his sore back a brief moment and began to run towards the entrance of the fortress where the Balaur had just succeeded in demolishing the doorway.
