I for one will never be able to reach a high AR because I do not and will not spend that much time in the game like some of these ppl. But that won't stop me from playing and having fun in my own way.

Games are about Fun, not an life replacement. Getting the high end experience is just a matter of time for people who enjoy the game.

For me, Aion is not a race, it's a ride

Hmm didn't know there was a lower hero level.

Or is this guardian the "Hero" status talked about?

Seems that all ranks above r10 are some sort of Hero ranks with awesome and unique skills.

The actual Hero of the faction here is the 18th rank, Commander-in-chief, there can be only 1/faction.

Now imagine, if the system alerts for every r14+ ranked players entering that area + everytime when they use their rank-skills, like this guy described.... Constant alerting. In 2-3 weeks, 100-100 Guardians (first 100/faction can have that rank) with their 86k+ HP will fight in abyss, leaving no chance for lower ranked players to advance.

Yeah . . . that could be a nightmare scenario. Don't you play in Korean retail Aion server currently, and don't you play in the abyss? How bad or good is it in your experience at least for now? I'm wondering if there might be a limit as to how many ranks 14 and above there can exist per server. And if not, if this might be an obvious solution. That way even as the skills might seem OP for 14+ as other players catch up in ranks (i.e. masses and masses of AR 13) they might get together to gank higher ranks, and those that don't play constantly will eventually fall behind.

Btw toyo the transformation skill is not available until AR 14, but you get other skills at lower ranks. Seems like you die often (even clerics) until you get this skill.

For now, you can avoid high-ranked players with their extreme skills (that's what I do, since I'm still lowlvl there), it is not yet a problem, but things I mentioned in my prev. post are gonna happen soon, then it would be quite interesting. I'm looking forward to the translations of the chaotic korean forums when those happen.

The main problem is, just like this guy said, Abyss is way too easy for endgamers. There is no point to hold, keep and defend a fortress, simply because there is no need for them (with the new patch, they added new fortresses to upper Abyss, but again, no real point to control them). Cheaper items, taxes are useless, because you can get everything from raid instances (which are also way too easy). If there's someone in your legion with alchemy, you dont even need to find alternative money resources (fortresses, again), he can produce whatever you like (which is actually a good thing, prob. the most useful profession of all). Without proper content it is all just a large ganking area. Might add, that if you don't use potions, proper titles (allowing xy things, interactions) and don't know the strategy for a specific monster, it can be difficult, but as soon as you speak and understand the language, everything can be figured out in a sec.

Abyss is quite fun, I might add, especially with some of the activated artifact effects, but if you're looking for a long-term goal in the game (beside reaching top-master-lvl in craft), you're not gonna find it.

We can only hope they figure smg out soon, or else ppl will start to leave the game.

I thought that trying to reach top Abyss rank would hold most hard core gamers attention until they finally add new content for the rest of us. Kinda disappointed with what you're saying about no real incentive to hold fortresses . . . surprised they haven't added fortress-specific instanced dungeon or something w/ raid boss + raid item specific to them or something. Oh well. Wait and see I guess.

Thanks for your input.

This can be a goal, however it is pretty fast to gain new ranks, can occupy a person for 3-4 months.

These things are in the game, certain instances are only available if you have control over certain parts of the map, however even without those you can be get extreme, legendary equipments.

Again, there is a certain amount of content in the game of course, but they will not last long enough to make it till the next expansion.

Right now, it is still kinda a good game, I'm only bringing possible/quite/ nearfuture issues to attention and problems with the current system.

and right you do lyankj. This ranking system sounds like it might be problematic, I guess time will tell how it works out. Honestly I think they should impose heavy ranking loss if you die but make it less the more different people use attacks on you.

I pretty much detest grind based mechanics which place an artificial point ahead of you. I don't know how this works in Aion but it seems to be the typical system where only time is needed to dominate aspects of a game. That's arguably the case for many MMO, but time spend grinding PVE shouldn't be a way to enhance your character to then dominate in PVP, which seems possible with this system. I don't like artificial time based grind points, it's boring and it makes the game into a grind game before you've even started.

I want to look at a toon and go: "they killed and managed to defeat X which is a very difficult encounter", not "He spent 200 hours grinding out lvl 40 mobs in the Abyss till his eyes bled.".

But we only have one Abyss area (well, three I guess, but I consider them one package) right now. We're going to get more later.

If you don't KEEP UP your progress, you'll go back down ranks until you're a nooblet again. :l

I'm just confused, people don't want grind but then they want grind...they want it easy, but then they want it complicated...

Make up your minds... -_-

Seriously. I mean, a few things I can understand, but what we're seeing here, in these interviews, is the viewpoint of some ****ing hardcore Korean dudes with a TON of time on their hands to do nothing but troll the Abyss for noobs to slaughter. This isn't really the main focus of the game, is it? I don't think so. I might be wrong, though. NCsoft would have to decide that.
