I dont know about you but i saw one of these mid air combats and nothing i have seen before even comes close to that epic scene.

Makes me think twice about going priest as i originally though ,a ranger firing from the sky could be pretty fun ,lol

How do you know that? If you have any info above pure speculation, I'm sure the entire community would appreciate it.

"Wings" don't really matter, it's how the flying is implemented. Wings just make the concept of flying more realistic through animation. Both wings and flying are not new, but as of now, "flying" mainly consists of floating in the air (like the noclip cheat in a single player mode of a lot of fps games). Additionally, I don't think there is any thunder to be stolen because Aion isn't even in beta yet. We don't know if this feature will be even worth stealing.

BTW the winged race in Lineage 2 is with only 1 wing so they dont fly , it'S to demonstrate that they are an imperfect race thats all. Just for the look.

O.o

last I herd there is going to be a pretty extensive flying combat feature, which sounds a bit more than what you make it out to be.

shes right though even if she didnt explained it well. AION flying feature was, at first a traveling feature only. Its after the E3 and some feedbacks that they decided to elaborate it a bit more and add the fly fight.

Hmmm... if i am not mistaken, a friend of mine told me something he read on some forum of Guild Wars, it seems that they want to imlepement the fliying feature in the game (dunno if it will be in the GW or GW2).

I think that they want to do that to make something like a "Test" and see the players reaction to the flying system. If you think about it, it makes sense that they want to do that before launching Aion, if i was the programmer of the system, i would want the players test the feature in another game to see how they like it.

Well, that was only my point of view there are more choices.

I doubt WoW will be "owned" by Aion. If anything, Aion will grow to great heights... but to say that it will own WoW is REALLY being optimistic. If, however, Aion does do better than WoW, I'll be glad *nods* I am not a big fan of WoW, so it would be a nice switch

I meant in general goodness, not playerbase
Aion isn't promoted NEARLY enough to beat wow of that stick right now... unless they pull of something extremely awesome at E3 or such.

Only WoW competitor i see around is Warhammer (LoTRO dosn't seem to do it either).

From what little online MMORPG experience I have, I've never really seen much promotion from games that are made over-seas save for events such as E3.

Hell, even with WoW there wasn't a lot of promotion/commercials on our T.V. but everyone knew about it because of the hype it got from local game stores, online, friends, etc. Plus, having the backing of the popular RTS Warcraft games and it being from Blizzard itself gives it a huge boost in acknowledgement to gamers all over the world.

I agree that Aion won't come anywhere near to "owning" WoW, but as many other are, I am eager to see what it has to offer and hope that it'll kick up the MMORPG experience a notch. NCSoft FTW

As for LotR:Online, I've seen it time and time again in game stores, but it just seems so very...lack luster. Haven't really heard much about Warhammer though.

The problem I anticipate for LOTRO is extensibility. The fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's works are rabid. So much so that you can find plenty of instances on the boards and in the game of players berating "lesser fans" for not knowing exactly how many individual hairs Frodo has on his left foot. I see that causing extensibility problems for the game down the road. The "lesser fans" will want more but the rabid fans won't stand for anything that's not canon. Last I checked, new works weren't being produced by the author due to, uhm, death. His son's fleshed out and published some of his remaining notes/works but it's background materials rather than "a new module". The "lesser fans" will wind up wanting to have a raid against a Balrog or some such. The purists won't stand for it. So how do you extend the world and make bigger and better beasties for the players to fight? It's a weird situation to be in.

Just like any huge licence. But LOTR is clearly targeting super casuals players and "newbies" mmorpg players. personnaly just the fact that you "zone" in each time you enter a building cracked me up .. felt like i was playing a RPG like FF XII .... not very immersive for a virtual world if you ask me.

@ Tobias : you are wrong man ... might not have noticed it but ... no mmorpg ever had such marketing strategie ever. They could have skip it.. i mean they already had the huge hype from the RTS fans but they still did some crazy stuffs... do you really think all the hype comming from stores and such wasnt planned ? that what is called marketing you know ^^ TV advertissment is only a very small part of it
