I'm gonna buy it and play it... because it looks and sounds "ok". But the fact that there is no pvp, and that "we already know the ending", are two big main issues for me, when it comes to LoTRO

I read somewhere that any movie or book-related names are going to be changed. Llegolass or Orlando and stuff like that will all be forced to change.

honestly, LOTRO really just isn't all that fun. i know i only played the closed beta, and the open beta for a bit... but it wasn't lack of content that was the problem, it was just a slow-moving, uninteresting experience.

If any online game wants to beat WoW they literally need to put a copy of the game with a 30 day free trail on it, in every house hold. Something like those toys in the bottom of the cerial box, give them out with happy meals, sell them for 2 dollars at the checkout lanes in the local supermarket.
Hopefully everyone will play those other flying type add-ons and realise 'hey this ain't that cool. Look! There's a game thats built around flying. Lets check it out. =D"
or maybe nc soft will put subliminal messages in the flight or wings of its other games to make them go to aion

Aions flight will pwn all.

In other news, reports of people having massive seizures while playing a popular MMORPG called City of Heroes occurred world wide today. The company NCSoft, creator of City of Heroes and other popular online games such as Lineage, withheld comments at this time.

Mhm. Some of the powers are trippy to continually watch. A lot of the Sonic powers cause people's eyes to blur *nods*

Just feel the need to clear a few things up.

LotRO has PvP, and the game itself is a lot like WoW.

It does very few things to seperate itself from the WoW/EQ formula, so it will appeal to fans of WoW and it's gameplay mechanics but want a game less focused on raiding and a little twist to PvP along with some great roleplaying features such as music playing.

Not much innovation but a polished game with a great team behind it (not so much before but Turbine HAVE lifted their game a lot as of late) and it will continue to improve.

That is why I personally dislike the game as it is now and wouldn't pay money for it, not enough features to differentiate it from current MMORPGs.

As for the topic at hand, even if other developers started to delve more deeply into flight mechanics those mechanics would be nothing more than a simple add-on rather than an innovative focus, unless of course they decided to make a whole new game/new focus which of course would take too long.
