No amount of blogs will decide whether or not this game succeeds or not ( even the quality of the game will not decide that : see Tabula Rasa ) .If NCsoft gets enough revenue from it , it will stay .If not , then it's a goner within a year .

If they make that revenue with large quantities of bot-accounts they really do not care ( which has been proven again and again by L 2 ) because it isn't the developers or players who decide if a game is succesful but the accountants and shareholders .

NCsoft has shown it simply doesn't care ( that is top of management, I'm not talking about the developers here ) about how good their games are or about loyalty towards their playerbase . You can swear about SOE all you want but they haven't pulled the plug on SWG because it "didn't meet our expectations " . NCsoft has done this twice now , do not for a moment think they wouldn't do this with Aion . If Aion isn't the hit they need and pretty much expect - also in western hemisphere - it's looking very bleak for the company's future in NA and EU . They might decide to simply abandon that market completely . They won't hesitate to pull the plug on servers ....

To be honest, I don't think Elliot is doing that much damage to Aion player-fan bas or its community. As they say, there's no such thing as a bad commercial (rumour)... All he does is getting more and more people interested in Aion. I can bet that even those who scream at NC soft full of hate (including L2 people, like myself) will still want to try out the game and see if it's that bad indeed. The people who won't even try the game for at least an hour weren't going to play the game from the start. It's not like they were turned down by Elliot.

What I am curious about is if even a landslide like Elliot's can move someone from NC Soft management to try to reach out to the public or will they simply ignore it (like before) and move on according to their own plans...

P.S. Good job, LD, altho I'd keep off Elliot's back... I sure would like to hear more about Aion's aspects/gameplay, not about what Elliot made wrong judgement about (intentional or unintentional).

Ahaha some of the translations were really comical. My favorite was

Quote:
Hayaden: many of the attractions, but, especially eobiseu used just a week from 5 skill education is growing. 그 중에서 특히 '변신:수호신장' 스킬이 어비스 시스템의 매력이다. That of the 'transformation: protects the kidneys' skill is the charm of this eobiseu system.

The majority of RQ is looking forward to Aion with a very positive outlook. The majority of us share the same anticipation as the rest of the users on Aion Source.

Not to say that I'm not excited for Aion, but I prefer to get an entire look at the whole picture.

I want to know the pros and cons and the issues that the game has, and what's being done to fix them.

I would much rather underestimate a game and be surprised because it's higher than my expectations, than overestimate it and be disappointed by the result.

Not saying Elliots post wasnt nice and all just some ppl saw him only to bash on a game that he never played and got all his info mostly from the forums that some ppl just whine about everything that may not be as bad they make it out to be.
It's posts like these that make me wonder if the majority of you "anti-Elliots" have read his blog.

If you go and read some of his articles you will see that they are not all negative.

He has already given reasons for translating what he chooses to translate among other things.

You can go and look up some of his posts.

Also, his translations have yet to be proven wrong. So for you kids screaming blasphemy and deceit, go and get your own KR translator.

No point in flaming each other now, is there? Doesnt matter who started it, lets just end it. Elliot provides one side of the argument and his blog needs to be more balanced in my opinion. But now we have a blog that looks at it from the opposite perspective and it also needs more balance to the arguments, it feels too nice and fanboy-ish at the moment However, together they equal each other out. Everyones happy.

Although HIGHLY unlikely, if this does happen, just switch to a private server dude

The translations have killed my joy overall about the game,I will try out the game for myself and will gave it fair shot( hell i resub vanguard and war twice,Aoc three times and wow four time). The sad part is i know on many levels that "translated articles" whiny mmo fans over exaggerating the problems but i am no fool where there is smoke there is normally is fire.

98% percent of a certain person translations are total negative pieces.I have no problems with negative information i do i have one sided information, delivering only side negative side.I said this before

A good article show both sides of issue and let you decide what is right or wrong,Facts don't need help.

You can say "mage overpower and no classes can beat them" or you can say "mages have a skill that in general does 65% damage to tank in pvp ".When present facts with as little opinion as possible people are force to argue the with facts and you can't beat facts.

I would tend to agree. There's a wrong and a right way to write an article. Elliot's blog is just a blog and, at leat to me, a highly opinionated one with a lot of errors and misinterpretations which do or do not get pointed out by other readers or players. Still, he managed to point out the flaws of Aion with some translations which were not apparent to everyone in the West.

Take everything you read from players with a grain of salt because the majority of western players are just testing out a game which they either don't fully understand, are not in Korean clans and are not part of the Korean community playing Aion.

From the threads and translations I see, there's some negative posts on the Korean forums, but there's also a lot of posts in which they're proud of their game. Being overly positive does no good, but the other end of the spectrum is doom and gloom and making highly opinionated conclusions about a client which is yet to arrive for most players.

However, if the Aion client isn't fixed and is left in the current state by the time we are able to experience it, I will decide against playing it.

In the end, everyone will have to try the game out and see if they like it for themselves. I detested AoC, for example, but no matter how much I hated the thing, I still know people who love the game to death. I'm really not the least bit excited for Darkfall for example, but if you want to see a rabid fanbase look no further. God help you if you show the least bit of negativity toward the game on their forums. The same goes for WoW. You might be able to find all manner of negative articles about the game, but the fact is the subscription base is over 11 million people and climbing.

I won't say that Elliot is going out of his way to only portray the bad, as I'd like to give him a little more credit than that (and plus, it would be odd to go out of his way just to discredit the game). He says:

Quote:
I WANT to translate good news. THERE DOESN’T SEEM TO BE ANY.
But this is what I have problems believing. It's not that I don't believe him, mind you, it's just that I can't imagine there not being any positive things to translate. I can comfortably translate at least 6 languages, but sadly Korean isn't one of them. I can't browse the headlines of a Korean Aion site, and I'm beginning to wonder if I might have to just break down and "teach myself" at least the basics.

So at this point, I just have to take it on faith until other people start doing their own translations and finding articles of a more positive nature.

With you I'm talking about most of RQ.
As Evril already said, most of us (including me) think this game is going to be great and I'll be lining up outside my local BestBuy on launch date. There's a reason we've started to recruit so early; we think this game has a great future and will be a guild mainstay.

I know there are balancing/botting issues, but the positives in this game at this point far outweigh the negative. That said, I take all the negative posts, however exaggerated, and filter it through to make my own decision as to the extent to which they are true.

This is why I defend negative posts - not because I agree completely with them, but because they should be able to voice their side and let everyone decide for themselves. Freedom of speech is freedom of speech.
