Who says the 70 are purely for translating? They couldn't be related to infrastructure design/building/testing? They could have also been building new websites for the release to go live later on. Useless speculation is useless. Hopefully things go well for both those laid off and the release of Aion.

Aion is not developed at all outside of Korea, and I never claimed they were, reading comprehension ftw!

I dunno really what to say at this point, I don't know how much longer I can wait before losing interest. I've been waiting for 2 years now, reading something like this seems like it will delay the localization of the game for us NA players... despite what NC Soft says.

I just watched EA/Mythic make a ton of similar "redundancies" of people, some of which were fairly well known in the community.

I only hope that the cuts were absolutely necessary... A fair amount of companies seem to be taking this "global economic crisis" notion as carte blanche to pursue layoffs aggressively (I'm looking more at Best Buy and Target here), layoffs that they know they could make with no ill will toward the company whatsoever...

Hi Everyone,

As mentioned above, NCsoft is providing for as many individuals as possible the opportunity to take on different roles within the company. While the European office will be transitioning to have a stronger focus in marketing and sales, many of the existing jobs over there will be transitioned over to our studios on the US West Coast and our headquarters in Seattle. Meaning, many of the current EU staff will be making the move to the Pacific Northwest.

I think it's important that you all know that today's news is completely independent of Aion. This does not affect our internal timeline and will not delay the game any further.
