Darn. At last we know where all those emails are coming from ![]() But seriously : I don't think the newsletter being distributed should be made #1 priority now. It would be far better to start marketing Aion in earnest ( most folks still are clueless the game is close to being released in western hemisphere - you can't start your marketing drive weeks before release ,it should long ago have started ) . I have yet to see any advertisement in games magazines for Aion and feature articles and previews are scarce . __________________ twitter aion-team feeds http://www.aionsource.com/forum/ncsoft-team-feeds/ THE definite list of issues which need to be fixed http://www.aionsource.com/forum/aion...ml#post1815479 |

Well, there have been previews and articles in magazines (like MMOzine) but the problem is that all these articles and events have been very separate in between each other, so people tend to loose the line of thought about AION.
NCSoft needs to get a little more aggressive. __________________ Destiny is implacable ---/---/---@

livvy,
Actually they have already started ... Lore chapters on gamezone (lol I know) and those 2 videos telling people come to visit New Fantasy MMORPG by NCsoft | Aion: The Tower of Eternity Its like 1st wave or smth (many people are visiting websites like mmorpg.com and those videos are there) __________________

i second Flecke's notion, if i understand where he's going at xD
First priority in advertising should be getting the site really good up to date, and then make connections with more popular sites. (the past few chapters of lore where posted on sites that most people didnt seem to know at all) MMORPG.com is a very popular website, since it keeps track of ALL mmo's. if your MMO is at the top of they're list, others will follow |

What I mean is a very aggressive campaign. I remember how Blizzard did this .You literally couldn't open any magazine or visit a website without there being a feature article on an upcoming expansion ,and this for almost a full year . There was so much and so frequent you were thinking "oh ,no! Not another Wrath of lich king feature " .
But it works. regardless of what folks might think about the game : if you organize such an intense campaign you can be sure folks will have noticed its existence . Each person seeing such an ad or article is a potential customer- even those who don't or didn't have the slightest interest in that expansion prior to that campaign .They're now doing the same for Diablo 3 and Starcraft II . You can't visit a website or open a magazine without there being a feature article on either or both games . You start to think those website and magazine reporters almost live at Blizzard HQ . I always felt a similar campaign for Tabula Rasa would have made that a very major title . But I never ever saw any ad in a magazine for RGTR . You also don't want to target just the MMORPG audience ( those folks quite often have already heard about Aion ) . You want folks who have never heard about NCsoft, let alone Aion , to become interested . That means ads in magazines which aren't into games as such too . Wrath of the lich king had ads in ICT-specialist magazines ( I read a magazine which discusses newest chip technology and latest business software etc. in my capacity as network manager and yep : Wrath of lich king ads in that one too ) I know that's expensive but if you really want to be noticed , that's what it takes . We have loads of aggressive campaigns coming up in near future : Blizzard's D3 and SC 2 already here, Bioware's campaigns , Bethesda will start marketing drive for Elder scrolls V game - already aggressive campaigns going on for Fallout 3 DLC's - in near future etc. and you want to stand out in the midst of all those . Most important though is to reach folks who have never heard about NCsoft , never heard about Aion and maybe even never heard about MMO-genre ( or are unfamiliar with it ) . In short : new folks . They managed that with guild wars so it can be done . __________________ twitter aion-team feeds http://www.aionsource.com/forum/ncsoft-team-feeds/ THE definite list of issues which need to be fixed http://www.aionsource.com/forum/aion...ml#post1815479 Last edited by Livvy; 02-25-2009 at 10:03 AM.. |

yea ofcourse but then you got alot of people already playing WOW. why do you think Blizzard reaches us easier then NCsoft? They are french... (if my memory is working ones <_<)
WOW has had amazing Advertizing online, but also in the magazines. The netherlands alone has 2 Magazines for games. i've not heard anything about L2 nor Aion in those. City of heroes is the only game i've spotted there. NcSoft should see there is potentional gamers in the west. and advertise. PS: L2 has had 2 reviews.
