More infos on japanese version - 17/04/2009
Cori from AionHun translated today's official japanese announcement regarding Aion's japanese debut, some interesting infos nontheless. ![]() source The Tower of Aion That's right, they slightly modified the title of the game. Why would you wanna to say 'Eternity' twice in the same sencence, right? (is it me or the font used for the words beside Aion is kinda lame? I know it should be the same font, still it looks kinda funny, that 't', 'w' and 'r' are like from a Harry Potter movie.. - Lyana) ![]() Names Also, they announced the names of the schools/classes: (might seem a bit funny to us, but they are not really different from their korean version and ofc for them it makes more sense) Japanese version - Our version Swordman - Warrior SwordWing (重装近接戦闘) - Gladiator ShieldWing (盾役) - Templar Striker - Scout BowWing (遠隔戦闘) - Ranger ShadowWing (軽装近接戦闘) - Assassin Wizard - Mage SpiritWing (召喚&変身) - Spiritmaster SpellWing (魔法攻撃&CC) - Sorcerer Cleric - Priest CureWing (回復職) - Cleric ChantWing (バフ職) - Chanter If you want to pronounce the faction names in japanese, they call them: Elyos - Tenkai (天界) Asmodian - Mazoku (魔族) Balaur - Ryuuzoku (竜族) (anime lovers will appreciate these names^^) Betas, PEs and such In addition, they shared details regarding their plans for different phases of testing in Japan: ![]() ・June 5. ~ Family&Friends Test ・June 12. ~ Closed Beta Test ・Mid-Late-June ~ Preview Event ・July ~ Open Beta Test Official Japanese Site Also, the official japanese site has been opened, 'though it's currently offline. Official Japanese Site - aion.plaync.jp - Currently not available ![]() That's it for now, we will keep doing translations from Japan, but I'll only post them on AS if threads won't be derailed and closed for being spammed by the angry mob (towards NC's actions). Fat chance, I know.. __________________ ![]() Last edited by lyankyj; 04-17-2009 at 04:45 PM.. |

Just get over it people, we all know your disappointed with NCWest.
Thank lyankyj, i see the Japanese version is being personalized to fit their localization and it fits them well and i see why you said it is redundant to say eternity twice in their language. |

I prefer the "normal" name, this new one sounds like a movie XD

So I'm guessing that Aion means Eternity in Japanese, then? Only reason why I can see they changed the name.
Good news to hear, I kind of like the name 'Spellwing', 'Curewing' and 'Chantwing'. __________________ "tatta ima sono te de Subversively nibuku hikaru kakera nigirishimeru yo kono te ni itami ga hashitte mo konna ni mo tomedonaku Inundation ochiru kanjou no umi hontou no yoake ga kuru made naite ii yo" |

Aion isn't actually being translated. They are simply waiting for the game to become sentient and learn the language of the next country they want to export it to.
It's taking a while since it has to learn every single language on the entire planet in geographical order before it can learn English and be released in the west. On a slightly more serious note, is there any reason why the game is taking so much longer to come out here? I mean, how many other languages is it going to be translated into before it is in English? Are all these languages suddenly so much simpler than ours? |

Is this really beneficial - other than getting a really early preview of the game? Without knowing Chinese (for the cbt) or Japanese I really wonder if English only players are actually hurting the beta process by not only not providing feedback and reporting bugs, but also causing unnecessary load and queues for regional players.

I hope one group of guys isn't trying to translate it from korean into japanese and then when they finish that, they'll start working on the english version. Unless those guys would be geniuses, I don't think those translations would be very good anyways XD |

It seems strange to me that the schedule has this arbitrary gap between regional releases. I understand that Korea would be first... but then we have a three month gap, China *three month gap* Japan *three month gap* NA/EU That's a very neat release schedule. Doesn't seem terribly realistic for multiple translations being performed simultaneously though. Why does the west get such low priority? |
