Aion and windows XP install error

Ok, so i set up an account for my bro, and downloaded the client. Problem is, when i click on the aion setup exe, i get an error that says someting &*^^& my documents/administrator/desktop data.zip &%&%

anybody have an idea about what i'm missing?

Are you trying to run the setup from inside the ZIP? Extract it first then try. Screenshots would be better than "someting &*^^& my documents/administrator/desktop data.zip &%&%"

I suck at desktop screenshots. I am clicking on the exe icon on the desktop, not in a zip folder. My brother doesn't have asian language packs installed, so it really looks like %%#% . I actually got it to launch once from 100 clicks, but hit the wrong button, and it closed the installer. >< I started to get a different error after the launch. So i assume XP can run it, but something is messing it up? I shut off all background programs running. He plays warhammer, so usually only curse client running anyway.

Is this the chinese client you have downloaded? Client might be corrupted and you might have to re-download. Also the client should have other files associated with it. If you extracted just the .exe you should also extract whatever else is in the zip folder to the desktop or organize it all in one folder.

Another thing, data.zip shouldn't be really touched from my experience. There should be a "AION_Setup(0.9.5.0)" outside the data.zip that you click on. There is a "PlayNCLauncher.exe" inside the data.zip, but that isn't the installation file.

ok, i finally got an error i can read. NSIS error. so im gonna wipe this file and try another. Too much DL net drama tonight ><

yeah it's the chinese client. "Aion_setup_0.9.5.0" and it didn't come in a zipped format. Yay for 20/5 ^^

When I downloaded the chinese client through torrents. The end result was a folder with nine files inside like "Data.zip","Data.z02","AION_Setup(0.9.5.0).exe " etc.

I downloaded the full version. not the split version. I just re did it from the same source, with the same problem. I'll try another source. I also tried zipping the file, then unzipping it, and it didnt work lol.


EDIT: yeah, i know what a NSIS error is, thats why i tried it again, but thanks for the link/info.

Everytime i think i have a braincell left, i realize what a dumb nyerknyerknyerknyerk i am. I pulled my setup file off the network, and it is working as intended.


Sorry all for the utterly useless post. Unless someone learns something from this. :P

I got this problem too but I saw online that if you just ignore it, if it's almost completed on installation and run the game itself, it will fix this issue with the updates etc. This trick worked for me. I was also frustrated and kept retrying the installation because I thought the files were corrupted or something.

By the way, it's not just XP, this occured on Windows Vista as well. (I got a new computer not long ago)

Hi, I don't know if it was solved or what... But I got the same issue.

It just says:


I ran the MD5 so the files are ok so I don't really know what to do next...
I google'd it and didn't really find an answer to this (maybe my google skills suck but anyways :P)

Any ideas?

EDIT:
I actually re-run a MD5 and realized the numbers weren't the same anymore... Reason being I downloaded them from work and brought them back home using my thumb drive... I didn't it would break it so easily...

I'll try again tomorrow at work and hopefully I'll come back with some good news.

I am getting the same error =( . I am trying to redownload again from a different source in hopes that it will work. I will then proceed to try to launch 100 times lol.

I will post a screenshot soon of the error.



That is the error I am receiving. Any idea what is causing it/how to solve it?

i used the original setup file and it worked fine. I'm not sure why a new download wasn't working. funny thing was, i hit it like 50 times and it worked once, so it's kind of hard to say.

Right now I am trying to download all of the Data files and see if that will do anything.

You hit it 50 times and it worked...so while its downloading ill just hit it lots of times and maybe get lucky :P

I've figured out how to do this I think. I downloaded something called an Aion Restore and it had in it various files such as the ncsoft launcher. What I did was run the Aion_setup download like usual and that failed, now I had a shortcut for aion on my desktop. Then I ran the Aion restore in the folder with my data files and it extracted the ncsoft launcher in there. Once that was done I double clicked the shortcut and the installer started up. I'm downloading everything now.

The name of the file is AION_Restore_113.exe, google it and I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find it. Just do as I said and it might work for ya. Put all 5 files in a folder with the aion restore program. Run Aion_setup file, it will fail like usual, run the aion_restore and make the destination the folder with the other 5 files, then double click the shortcut. The launcher should start.
