Small notice for Beta Event participants (Regarding installation issues)
I am well aware that not everyone roaming these boards have been fortunate enough to acquire a beta key for Aion's upcoming beta, but the ones who have are scattered enough to warrant information presented in the form of this elegant new thread. Our Beta forums will open in due time, before the actual event takes off, and in the long run serve to inform beta testers of similar matters.
This thread is for those of you who have been unable to patch Aion with the region set to "Europe" in your NCsoft Launcher. You need only to follow these two steps to remedy the situation: 1) Exit the launcher. 2) Re-run the 'aion.exe' installer which you were provided with along with your Beta event key. It should automagically and fairly seamlessly fix the launcher's settings and allow for patching of the 'EU' version. If you have already installed "Aion (US)" it will work perfectly fine and there is no reason re-download the client even if you are European and/or have access to the EU Beta events - the clients are the same and will work for both. Just make sure that your launcher's regional setting is switched to "Europe" before starting the game if your key is for the EU event, and to "North America" if your key is for the NA event. If you find that this still doesn't help you with your problem - a fresh install is most definitely a good idea. Keep in mind that you will not be able to log in before the first Beta event starts on the 5th of June. __________________ Your just and noble, Ayase ~ Sebastian Streiffert Community Manager Do not miss vital information - follow me on Twitter now: aion_ayase Last edited by Ayase; 06-03-2009 at 05:33 PM.. - However I'd just like to point out, that a lot of us actually diligently checked that our launchers were set to the correct regions, because we were initially prompted with the US client download in the launcher. Restarting the installer, the client download would not start and hung with a message to try again later. I for one, decided to just go with the US client for this reason, nomatter what I did, it wouldnt let me download the Aion(generic) with my region set to Europe /shrug. I am relieved to hear that the region issues can be delt with through the regional settings in the launcher. I am so happy that you guys arent artificially splitting up the regions and giving us a choice in the matter cheers __________________ The art of losing isn't hard to master; so many things seem filled with the intent to be lost that their loss is no disaster.Lose something every day. thanks again for that.(the part about giving us a choice in the matter, stems from having played games where the US client was different from the EU client, and where it wasnt easy to get it sent outside the NA region to play it in Europe from website retailers. This happens mostly (I think) when companies outsource regions to different providers(?) and they want to fence in their markets. NCsoft never did that, I remember playing Lineage 2 without this artificial split between NA and EU players. We were allowed to chose. I was just saying that originally, a lot of us had the patcher auto detect, or we were diligent and set the launcher correctly to our Europe region and was then subsequently stopped from downloading the client because it would hang with the: try again later issue. Some found it to be a DNS error, but others couldnt apply the quickfix for this to get past it. I was one of those. Thats why I ended up setting my launcher to the NA region and grab the prompted US client. I was hoping, because you havent outsourced the EU region to another company afaik, that I would still be able to use a EU key, and as you have now announced I am - through the launchers settings. Still, the EUclient was a bit difficult to get a hold of, even taking the region precautions in advance. __________________ The art of losing isn't hard to master; so many things seem filled with the intent to be lost that their loss is no disaster.Lose something every day. It will resume where it left off. Atleast that is what it says in the email. Make sure you are starting the download by using your NCsoft launcher the second time, NOT the original aion.exe installer. The download manager is the NCsoft launcher itself.

Personally, it resumed no problem for me after closing and restarting the launcher. There has been multiple people complaining about losing their data though. That seems to stem from network issues however and isn't the same as physically closing the launcher.
