I gotta say, even though you guys aren't, I'm a bit peeved about the restrictions, but it really depends on how they use them. If the wings are on a timer, I don't want to be flying to help some people out in battle only to make it a mile and have to run. The games pretty enough on land to where people won't be in the air 100%. Besides, you have to land to grind. Also, I want to be able to fly myself up to the floating cities instead of having to sit my *** on a floating platform for 5 minutes, assuming I don't miss it and have to wait for another.
If I have to, I can see restricting how long you can use the wings at any given time.. But restricting where you use them is just nonsense. If you have the ability to summon a pair of wings out of your back, you should be able to do it to get to where you wanna go or just impress the ladies at the bar, you know? If I want to try flying down a 3 foot wide hallway, its not gonna work very well, but its my perrogitive. Don't restrict where you can use them, just how often. Also, If it must be, make the terms based on level. Obviously a stronger character would be able to manage a longer distance flight. Maybe a reward for making it to the higher levels is no time restriction, but if you toggle them off you still wait for the cool down. ( or if you're on land more than a few seconds they poof ) I don't know- if the only thing we're getting out of E3 is "You can't fly everywhere." I'm pretty dissapointed. What if:
Every zone/area/environs get a number (x), based on the difficulty of quests and level of mobs there. If a char will be highlvl (x+6 lvl e.g.) to that area, the character gains the ability to fly over it. Thats an idea, i could accept ![]() __________________ ![]() |

i'm not terribly disappointed by the new flight details, but i think it would be nice to have a "time limit", as opposed to an "area limit"... im sure there is a decent explanation (lore, environmental restraints, loss of uniqueness, etc.), but being able to fly anywhere, for at least X amount of time is my preference... __________________

Hey guys, first post!
I have been looking forward to this game all year, and sucking up any info I can. I played EQ1 for 3 years, then FFXI for 2.5 years and WoW for 2 years. Its time for a change, and that change is AION. Just everything about this game just seems so amazing, beauty, colors, landscapes, the spell animations and even FLIGHT. I am a tad dissapointed about flight being restricted, I just hope its done tastefully. I want to be able to fly around with my friends and explore the world through wings. I think it would be relaxing to just fly around lush waterfalls and forrests, so i hope it isnt too highly restricted ![]() __________________ You're the god of a shrinking universe.

It might be a mix.
Say, 1. Area where there is no ground! (area between a flying city and the "earth") Obviously you are going to have unlimited flight here. 2. Area where this is lots of sky but plenty of places to land. Ideas that come to mind would be the massive PvPvE area this would be a place where you can fly anywhere but on a timer 3 Area where flying would be "inconveniencing" at best A cave, inside a building, Ect. All pure speculation of course. At least this way if you wanted to fly all the time ( don't know how much you would get done for your faction) you could stay in the sky areas. If you wanted both head for an area a little lower in the atmosphere. Caves...tough luck, I'm sure they'll have fast movement for the cost of DP or something for those who REALLY don't want to just fun thorough an area...maybe...it would be cool. __________________ ![]() "I believe in this light I see." |

Point is, it wouldnt be logical to be able to pull out your wings in an open grassy area but not be able to in a cave. It wouldnt make sense to be able to fly for 5 minutes if you're in one area but only 1 in another. If you're able to call them it should be consistant.
In CoX you can fly wherever you can stand. Doesn't mean I'm going to when Im running a cave mission. I'd spend more time in the wall than en route, but I still have the option. And I dont understand the part where they're saying the novelty will wear off... CoX already lets you fly all day every day if you take the power and want to. If the entire world is going to be based on the fact that you CAN FLY you should be able to fly. I don't know... I'll have to wait and see what these restrictions are, but this combined with zero new info from E3 has lowered my excitement level considerably. |

I myself was hoping for the ability to fly everwhere, but I can see the point in having to restrict it. Only thing I as for is the flight timer to not be just a minute or five. Atleast let us be able to fly for a reasonable amount of time before the timer ends and we have to land. As I said before, I have found hopes of finding myself a nice floating island in the air to call my own.. Even if it technically isn't. I've dealt with not being able to fly at all in most MMO's so I suppose I can forgive this small discretion. -.- lol
