Skills
I know it's probably never going to happen again in the history of any MMO, but does anyone remember the skill system Ultima Online had, where you could train anything and everything you wanted, as long as you never exceeded your point max. So you could master different pools of skills just as magic/sword or anything you wanted. Or a mixture of skills, but not mastered. I miss tat kind of skill system. It seems more realistic to me. As people, we pursue different skills and hobbies right? Why should we be limited to JUST one class type?
I just with i could be a mage, but also be able to train in other things as well. What do you guys think? __________________ My Rig Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz Memory: 2046MB Dual Channel 400Mhz DDR-RAM Hard Drive: 250 GB 5400 RPM(SLOW) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT |

Well i guess it would be the same as RFonline and its pt system. As a pure class you could go all the to GM but as a cross-class you could only go to 64/99(GM). Think its a good thing as long as they get the cap right on the lvl you can go up to if your not pure.

RF Online:
*Me being a warlock* Hey, we need a damn tank!.. ok brb *puts on heavy armor and shield* ok lets roll O_O ... it was pretty funny being able to switch from any type of gear as long as you trained the pt's for it. Although a mixed class may not be as good as the pure class it does serve its purpose as making a character very versital in different situations. |

i dont think thats to good. i think it should be like guild wars, where u can buy skills and u upgrade catergories based on ur class.(elementalist-fire, water, earth, air) u get skill points for every level.

That probably how it will be, but doesn't mean its the best. I like being able to customize my character in every aspect. Including the way he levels up and what skills he can learn. Not choose from his classes defaults.

if im understanding correctly wat ur trying to explain, then u want a system that allows u to train ur character in every proffession/job. I would much rather like a GW kind of system myself, keeps you focused on a specific role/job.

it was actually pretty damn fun in RF Online... for example:
someone is chasing you... so you pop on your ranger armor and get a speed boost ... or a group needs an off tank... or someone to tank mobs that dont require you to be a pure tank... pop on your tank armor and level tank pts... or just use your normal armor for your intended class spec... regardless in what you decided, it gave you the ability to do many different things, which in turn led you to be less bored and more versital in groups with your character. |

I don't think that this would be a good idea. I think that it would take away from characters in grouping. In most of the MMOs that I've played there is usually a shortage of good tanks/healers. A shortage of tanks and healers might be the incentive someone needs to level one.

SWG had skill points in its glory days. Then people cried a lot and SOE thought they had to change the game because of it. Then they Changed the whole game again as if they didnt learn the first time.
And all around the world, people cried still. The End |

Well, if he was neither as good a mage or tank as a pure specialization would be, then you would have to consider if you were willing to make that sacrifice for your character, for easier grouping etc.
