Guild Wars - played for a year or so, still log on every now and then

SWG: my first 'real' MMO though only about a half-year before the NGE annihilated it. I couldn't stand the changes and promptly quit.

FFXI: What I migrated to after SWG. I've played on and off a total of about 4 years, my last -very short- return was only two months ago. But after that brief stint, I really have realized I cannot abide the grind-tastic nature of that game. And forced grouping is utter fail. No, it isn't socializing to get in a party. I've had more socializing with brick walls than what I get out of some parties where all you can get out of people is short, terse comments on the EXP or equip of your members. Party =/= social. I seriously wish MMO designers would get this through their heads. The promise of XIV catering to casual/limited-time players is certainly hopeful. Now if only SE will deliver on that front.

LotRO: Definitely my second fave (after the pre-NGE SWG) of what I've played. The atmosphere is lovely, its decidedly more casual focused than lolXI, which is a massive plus. And the role playing prospects are grand.


Other (not technically "MMOs"):

Monster Hunter: Fun game. I miss the servers. The newer generation of players in the PSP version are much less apt to help out anyone, I've noticed.

PSU: It's Sega, what can I say? The content is a year behind Japan, the servers are always hiccuping, and the game itself tends to be repetitive and dull, but it's something to occupy my time until Aion/TOR/XIV.

L2 is really what started it for me. played a ton of different mmo's since then but the PvP centric style of Aion is calling me! Can't wait for another beta weekend few more days now ^^

I think I should also consider myself an already player of the upcoming Warhammer 40k MMO! I mean...I better be able to be a Khorne Berzerker at least! Plasma pistol & chain axe for the win! MAIM KILL BURN!!! xD

Only played 3 EQ1-2 and Age of Conan EQ1-2 were good but AoC omfg its terrible bad graphics and gameplay and content but aion will RULE!

I couldn't even begin to map out my MMO history. It's not linear and it's too convoluted for me to even remember. Main points...I started in Tibia. Moved to Final Fantasy XI when it finally came out in the US on the PS2 for about a year. Eventually moved to WoW 3 months after its release. Played that for a couple of years then started getting bored. After that, I played WoW off and on and have been playing many other MMOs in the meantime. Some highlights including Tabula Rasa, City of Heroes, Warhammer, LOTRO, Age of Conan, and Vanguard...all of which I got to either pretty high level or max level.

MMOs have just begun to bore me and is part of why I cannot find the MMO I want to stay with anymore because none of them offer anything really new, and when they do it typically fails. I don't really expect Aion to ignite some new fire under me, but it's at least looking to be a decently fun PvP game with Korean visuals and will be released as a polished game. I'll probably waste a bit of time on Aion.
