FYI its a cultural reference to a series of books produced for the US and UK entitled the complete idiot's guide to [whatever] and was made popular by it's DOS guide so its kinda well known on the interwebs...

as most of the stuff will not have to be altered , just some edits , for upcoming betas.

nope, well you can opt NOT to download the client if you already have it, but price remains the same

What good will a serial key do to you without the client? When you buy online, you get a key (and a beta key as well).

The serial key is sent straight to your NcSoft account so when you buy it'll be in there under pending serial codes or something similar.

You don't have to download the client if you already have it, as soon as you've paid the code should go into your account and you can cancel the download, set up your Aion username and password in your NcSoft Master account and then log in when the servers go live in 5 hours 17 mins...

Good idea but it might just be better to keep it current so people know they are reading something up to date? I'm unsure but it won't be hard to change 3rd to 4th.. what does everyone think?

Awesome guide. First post here. Seems like most people who are playing beta from other parts of the world are loving it. I have installed Aion via preorder key, I get the cool looking Aion screen with the login prompt. One question: do I just log in with my NC Soft login that I created when I downloaded the client, etc? and just wait until 3PM today? I'm sure I'm not the only one who has tried to login before the beta date... Just want to make sure that the "Username does not currently have access to Aion" message will change.

Essentially that message means you are logging in with the right username and password on the right region for your preorder code because otherwise you would get a message saying 'invalid username and password' as the login servers are up but the game servers aren't so you're getting through the login servers just fine and now just need to wait till 3pm

Yes, the fact you get Username does not currently have access to Aion message means you will have access ( although I think it says "account currently etc. " )

No , you need to buy a retail key for the full client . After 30 days you need to either pay monthly fee with a credit card OR use timecard to extend playtime .
