They are making billions. Not very confident? That's retarded. At an average of $14 a month(yes most people pay 14.99, but discounts are available and I'm going even lower for the point) that's $161,000,000 a month in subscription fees. $1,932,000,000 in monthly fees alone for a year time period. Add in costs for each game/expansion you have to buy, and all their $25 transaction fees for transfers and such, and it's a freakin' gold mine.

Who cares anyway? Competition is always beneficial for the end users.

Aion will take allot WoW's players. I like anime and allot of things in WoW **** me off, first the retarded looking playable races such as gnomes and taurens. I like games like that look good and WoW's graphic is failing and the developers seem to ignore the feedback of the community because the game is a success now and they don't need to pay attention to the community like they had to do at the start of WoW.

I am sure that most serious gamers will leave WoW and join Aion, but kids or parents who play with their kids and cousins will still enjoy the game. Also the silly design of weapons in WoW is another thing that kills the fun for me, also allot of classes are getting the same **** from other classes instead of new unique things in every patch/expansion.

For me Aion has better looks, the classes all seem cool and have their own uniqueness and style. WoW simply doesn't have this... WoW will keep the most retarded players busy and Aion will have a cleaner community and player base! can't wait

Cheers!

Except the fact that Aion actually brings new unique things and an awesome lore/world!

Well put.

I have plenty of friends I tried to recruit from WoW, they said they'd be interested in the game but they are too invested into WoW with their high levels and their different guild commitments they wont be leaving anytime soon. I'm sure there are more cases out there that are like them.

Ultimately, I like this game better in which case I will not be likely to play WoW again anytime soon. More especially when Aion is fully released.

People will do what they want essentially.

Sorry if you took offense Lilja, that comment wasn't meant to be directed at you per say. I see a lot of people being dismissive about a game that is ultimately very well made, but has gotten a bit old and it seems to me a lot of people seem to shoot from the hip rather than really looking at the issues. I meant it as more of a generalized statement directed more towards the "lawl WoW sucks" crowd.

Very common side effect: MMO players play X game for unhealthy amount of time, become bitter towards the game when they're actually angry about their own lack of self-restraint, and once they lube up that reality check, their spite towards the game comes easier and easier.

You know, the classic gems like, "I played WoW for 4 years, blahcartoony, blahrandomdetails, WoW sucks."
Damn dude, it took you 4 years to suddenly realize the game wasn't for you? No. It probably took you 2 years too many to realize the game was spanking your real life. And the fallout of that realization manifests as spite towards the game.

Like the fellow above, I agree that WoW is ultimately a very well made game. Remember folks, it won several Game of the Year honors the year it came out. Not just computer GotY - it was overall GotY against some rather excellent console competition in '04. I stopped WoW playing just before BC, but I still acknowledge it was a damn fine game. Obviously the best thing to happen to MMOs... in 2004.

I believe Aion deserves to leapfrog the likes of Warhammer and Conan, not that they're particularly inferior games. I think Aion has way more heart and soul, however. And it's a wonderful cross between Eastern and Western styles that I love. And it's bloody polished. I'd love to see Aion move into a comfy #2 spot in the west, and chip away at WoW. Diversity.

A good point.

I also suspect that having achieved a status (at least in their own head) some players are daunted by the idea of beginning from the beginning and that makes them very defensive towards any new game that they perceive as possibly forcing them to do that. Which might explain some of the hatred directed towards Aion.

Am I the only one who noticed that Activision-Blizzard said nothing of the sort and the entire quote was from a third party market analyst?

Back when I started playing WoW in 2006, I was new to the whole MMO thing, I didn't know anything about the game - nor about addons or internet databases. I reached lvl14 (or was it16?) and got stuck on my sea lion pendant quest - I was pretty desperate and for the love of god couldn't figure out what to do. But then I discovered the General chat! Not one, but several fellow druids offered to helped me out. They walked me through the whole quest chain (and it required quite a lot of traveling back then), gave me advice on professions, talents, armor, weapons... If it wasn't for this experience I'm pretty sure I would have left the game there and then and never looked back.

The best part of this story is that after a while our paths separated, they did their raids and I leveled at my own casual pace. And then - months later - when I hit level 60 I got whispers from all those guys congratulating me!

WoW community used to be one wonderful place to be...
thats awesome, whether I like WoW or not that is something quite impressive and would make me stay also. I still play mmo's solely for my guild. That's what I like about them. My guild's like my second family. :P
