I dont respect the guy because he lies.
Max level is 45 on CN, so i'm not even sure he actually played the game to lvl 30~ __________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. |

every game has button mashing... Because they're all based around using skills with certain hot keys. You could say any game is a button mashing game really. Only until the day they make virtual reality and you can wave around an imaginary sword which would totally make you look crazy, then that would be considered not button mashing. xD However how I see it, Aion will have lots of spam skills but nearly not as bad as other games, I enjoy this game much more than many of the mmos i've played with button mashing ness. The only uniqueness about this game is the advantages of going around someone or backing up and receiving dodge or lesser damage and inflicting more damage on them. So it's one step higher than most mmos since you can have advantages in where your positioned than just sitting in one place using the same button over and over.
And Ell... Um... We sort of ARE in an Aion forum.. I don't know where you think you are right now, but there will always be fanboys to back things up, you can't have a perfect world.. xD But they do bring up good arguments, this review to me is not what it seems, they have a few good points but the rest is utter bull ****. ![]() __________________

Well it sounds like they're complaining more about current content, which is fair enough considering it is only 1.0. He didn't mention to much about the combat system being fundamentally flawed, which is a good thing.
Some classes are OP, they will be balanced. Bad end game, heaps of new content has already been created. He complains about linear gameplay, well hopefully NCsoft get creative, give us more interesting quests, new skill sets etc. I agree that diversity is key to a long life span for this game, I don't want to be the same as everyone else. |

but in PvP there should be 20 different skills to use for excitement and skill to come in play direct dmg, dots, stuns, snares, combo moves, stances(offensive/evasive) speed ups, stat buffs on yourself/debuffs on enemy etc __________________ ![]() |

If the endgame is soooo much about grinding why cant he even remember what level he reached after soooo long or boring grinding sessions?
No need to be a fanboy nor even the brightest to get, how this and allot of his other statements are just false or heavily biased and opinionated. This whole review also contains so less actual information, some completly factual untrue statements and so much generic "critics", it seems he might have only played to lvl 20-30 in chinese beta while just reading or making the rest up. |

-------------- The review makes some good points, but also some trivial ones - the swimming, honestly, that isn't really worth complaining about. I'm sure it'll get patched in as some stage. The endgame instance he doubts will ever get added are already being added, in fact, we launch with 1.5 which adds new PvE content, 3 or 4 PvE instances and 1 PvPvE instance. The linear aspect.. yeah I'm starting to see that actually, and the factions are pigeonholed.. you can't freely roam into an other faction's area.. which may make the game feel small after a few months at endgame. The talent system - yeah that's a critical error, and one many of us that are enjoying AION now will probably leave for later as we're approached with newer titles with deeper build customisation unless NC Soft really overhaul and develop the Stigma system. |

93 between 8 classes is poor, especially considering the limitations imposed and the amount of stones you can have equipped at any one time. Either they need to go with a massive set of equippable skills like in GW - 1000's of skills, but limit the number you can equip at any time, or they'll have to further branch the Stigma tree way past what it will be in 1.5..

It is strangely accurate though - every single quest is kill x or gather x, and no not even WoW is this way.
Designed to be pvp centric? Maybe, but the documentation on Aiononline.com says otherwise: "PvPvE: Players will be able to engage in intense raids and other encounters with computer opponents, not to mention the opposing player faction." Its supposed to be both .I personally like the pick the talent system seen in many mmo's - adds a sense of you never know what you are encountering in pvp. From what I understand Stigma system isn't really class defining (like Shaman's in WoW - Elemental=DPS, Restoration=Healing). |

It sounds like this guy was playing solo, which leaves out a bunch of opportunities. I have run into the problem while leveling that there are not enough quests to get me through a level, but this is something they already resolved in 1.05 for NA release.
He has pointed out some class imbalance but it has not stopped me, personally, from enjoying pvp. If anything it pumps me up to beat someone despite their op'ness and also encourages me to pvp with groups, which is a blast. He mentioned nothing about sieges, and nothing about rift pvp, where you find worm holes in your zone that allow you to enter enemy territory and fight them in there own zone and vice versa. It's awesome and so much fun to come across an ememy in your own zone and see everyone gravitate to them to help you out and vice versa. The only downside I see in pvp for me is the lag. I'm playing china release right now and the delay makes it very hard for me to be effective but this has absoulutely nothing to do with game machanics and won't be an issue when NA release hits. I never really would take official reviews too seriously because I don't see anyone who is being payed to do it actually utilizing the ascpect that make an mmo and mmo. Everything is more fun with groupmates and a guild (or legion in this instance) and I don't see someone who's writing a review taking the time out to test anything but base game machanics. |

edit: forgot wow also uses escort quests a good bit more than aion, but aion does have a couple up to the level 22ish content i've played...those were always super frustrating on pvp servers though so i don't miss them ;[ |
