Not really much to comment on for most of it, it's fairly spot on, but there are actually rare, named monsters that drop really nice stuff. Killed a named wind puppy thing that gave me some insane blue quality boots, and I know people have seen others around.

Yeah I think they might have a cool system for this, but I want ones that have like a 24 hour spawn with hints to spawning and people camping them. I know it's old school and a lot of people hate that system, but for whatever reason I really enjoyed it. I will have some fun hunting named mobs in Aion for sure though.

Try it for yourself once it's released, or when the next beta comes around. Who knows, you may love it.

Only the betas there isn't much Abyss play so it's hard to judge if you would like it in the long run. Luckily for me what really attracts me to Aion is the level 25-50 portion of the game. If I only judged the game based on beta without knowing about how the game plays out towards the end I might buy it, but not like the Abyss, or not buy it when the Abyss really makes the game awesome for me.

I preordered this game mostly because of positive, spontaneous comments like this.
I have to say that I'm not enjoying the beta very much though, and that's because my character is still < lvl15. Don't get me wrong, the UI and the engine are technically OK, but during these few level I didn't find anything really innovative to scream for.
This is an online game and I expect to play along with other people since the beginning. Instead, I soloed 90% of the time. One should take part in PvP or in instanced mission asap, I don't want to play a generic MMO clone once again.

I remain optimistic that it will get better later, when I'll level up.
It would be nice if they make us keep our beta characters into the release, but I highly doubt it. Restarting from level 1 will be a pain.

Well i'm enjoying the beta very much, but yeah I wouldn't want to go 1-+ many more times. Why I plan on one char to end game only at launch. I prefer grouping over soloing any day though.

I'm finding the linear nature of the starting points a tad on the "repetitive" side as well. The mobs are too unoriginal for my tastes. "What should we name these? Let's just make em "One Day, Two Day, Three Day Sparkies!'".

I guess this really isn't anything constructive though..
Honestly I'm just trying to get my 10 posts in so I can post a bug. -_-

Yeah definitely gets repetitive and switching factions doesn't help, but I don't mind it so much as long as I don't overplay it. What I really care about is mid to end game and the experience that provides.

Seriously? It's not that long of a read at all... v.v;

OP - question, if I may! ^-^; I am like you in the fact that I really like sandbox styles. I like single player RPGs with linear storylines, but with an MMO I really like creating a story, RPing, exploring a world of mystery, etc. This is why, despite my love for Tolkien, I didn't like LOTRO. It was very linear and story-like instead of open-ended and sandbox. So far I have been a fan of EQ, EQ2, and WoW (despite the ease and sometimes bore of it). Finally the question. xD - Do you think I'll like Aion? Or stick with the more open-ended EQ2 and WoW? I love the Aion lore and graphics and stuff, but I really won't be able to stand such a linear game as I have frequently heard in other reviews (Even if it isn't sandbox, I'll play it for a few months, but I want a world to call "home" for a few years with lots of exploration)!

Thanks! <3 :3

I know what you mean about LotRO. I was the same way. I think you will like it, but like me I wouldn't roll up more than 1 character. Pick a side, pick a class, and head into game. The unique setting and created lore is interesting the first time and I really enjoy the world. The abyss and mid-end game seems to be right up my alley, and the skill that can be applied in fights out in the world is there. It seems like they are expanding the game.. wider instead of longer if that makes sense. Adding much more to do for current levels and not just tacking on more levels and alienating the veterans from the people just starting out. A lot of stuff in 1.5 is for 40-50 and not just 50. I really like the direction they are taking with incentives for forts and all of the options for entertainment so I think anyone has great potential to love the game for some time. I would say preorder, try out the beta but know that the whole game isn't like the beginning as it opens up a good deal, and then either keep the preorder or cancel. Do research on the Abyss and end game style and see if it sounds like something you love, or something that can entertain you until something else comes along.

The only important question is: Will you get your 50$ out of the game? I think hands down anyone that buys Aion will, and the only question is how long will hold you. Either way you enjoy a new setting and new game and get your moneys worth. There is nothing else on the sandbox front coming for some time (in a decently polished state.. Mortal Online i'd give 6-8 months, Earthrise about the same if not 12-14 months).

Cool. Looks like I will definitely be pre-ordering it then! I didn't know about Mortal Online til now; I will have to keep my eye on it as well!
