Yes, you are right. And, the whole concept of it ****es me off. But, I do mean to say it doesn't bother me as much later in the game, like I said I still don't like it, but if I've had a few years to get to the top and people aren't just jumping out in front of me because they bought crap it doesn't bother me as much, its hard to play in MMO without any friends online and if you are late starting you won't find anyone. I guess thats why I used to run around starter towns with my buffer in DAoC and twink random newbs for hours on end.

I guess the semi-sympathy I gave (which I;ll now tak eback because you made me feel bad about myself) is probably because I've had friends who did it in the past I never liked it but I naturally try to find ways to say my friends aren't total nyerkers.

you do know its easy to stop ebay seller all NC soft needs to do is say they want this item banned and ebau will ban it for them, any account that get court will be blocked and they wont be able to use them details again my friend sold his wow account wel tryed to and he got his account blocked and he can't set up a account under his address anymore due to the user vilation. I told him he was a idiot but ahh well... all i am trying to say Ebay sellers are easy to stop its the seller that have there own private sites and so on these are the ones that go on the games and spam it accross the hole game world there selling gold

The same thing is happening now for a while in cabal online, even when it was p2p they had them, also with the worst piece of anticheat there is, gameguard, that program messed up alot and still does.
Gm's dont care bout the chinese farmers/botters and their shop, they only care is to make quick money now that its f2p, they dont care bout the rest.
Gamesmaster.com is the most unproffesional bunch of GM's i have ever seen and keep making false promises and lie to the community all the time.
Those bots currently active are so intelligent, when u come in their range to fraps them f.e they vanish, they have their shops up 24/7 fully automatic, they grind/lvl fully automatic, only picking up stuff from value, npc's the stuff they dont need after all. all is fully automatic, and the Gm's and gameguard is just a joke.
I really hope that Aion wont have to do anything with both of them, gamesmasters and gameguard, it would ruin this great game.

No, no- I didn't mean to make you feel bad about yourself. I was just pointing out the contradiction. yes, I can see what you mean now. There are extremes to every stance. I still think there are better ways. Most established games have guilds willing to open their doors to noobs and most of them tend to have some sort of vault with all the little newbie gear you could need to level up. It doesn't always mean its yours to keep, but in many games you change gear more than you change your underpants.

Don't hold your breath thinking that there won't be botters and farmers in Aion. Frankly, I'd be surprised if there weren't 3 months into the game.

Or you could be like FFXI and be completely impregnable to bots, so you'd at LEAST have real people farming. >.> (POL's datastream structure and FFXI's launch code made it nearly impossible to make a bot, the best I've seen towards modding on FFXI is a windower, and if you get caught using that, it's insta-perma ban. >.>)

FFXI is not impregnable by any means, as far as botting is concerned. They just recently, this past summer, wiped out alot of the RMT(gilfarmers/sellers) from the game. In fact, on Alexander, they were removed almost 100%. But up until this past summer, they were RAMPANT on all servers, killing the economy, and monopolizing anything they could. They had ruined a portion of the end game content(Sky) for awhile, and were starting to ruin another portion(Sea).

Also, most of the bigger HNM LS's(Hyper Notorious Monster Linkshells, the guys that fight the BIG monsters that drop the best loot) all bot. Alexander is still over-run with those, as I imagine all servers are.

Personally if i was the HD, i would take a few simple, and not so simple steps, in hopes of ending this botting phenomenon....

First off i would do as many of you have stated, regulate the economy, which is something rarely, if ever done in an MMO. By having maximum prices on items sold, as well as what can be traded. For in most MMO's you can give anyone anything, which i think is absolutely ridiculous. There should be SERIOUS trade hindrances, such as lvl, quantity of gold, and relations with tradee. (I.E. You cannot give someone you have never met 2,000g, allowing RL, and INGAME friends to help one another while still keeping the number of botters down)

In addition i would reduce gold's influence on game play, as in games like L2, without gold, you are without gear, and without gear you are a dead man walking. Which although great for koreans / people without lives / and botters, ruined the game for everyone else.

Lastly I would do as someone else (lost link ) previously said and create an automatic booter, that requires a unique response, and will ban any account that does not comply in a reasonable amount of time.

If NCsoft is willing to pay me, I would GM(like 3 hours a day or something, longer on weekends) but I've never seen an MMO actively seek out GMs before(if they have, my bad)


P.S. I say 3 hours a day cause I have ADHD, and I can barely sit still and play for that long


P.S.S. you know instead for being GMs they could do something like EVE online did and make a player run corporation(guild) that helps newbis and reports bots, but is tied directly to the GMs. In this way they don't have to pay the players but still can get the help of the players, of course they would need some type of benfits for these players(maybe pay less per month, access to special items[not actual items to use in-game, but maybe a "report wand" to report possible bot activity], have access to special teleport system[would have to be limited in someway], etc.) I'm we could come up with alot of ideas.

Things you shoud know about botting:

-You would be amazed by how bots can be "inteligent".
-They can hunt in diferent areas, and they can act random. Like they can hunt 30 minutes here and them 20 minutes there, they can ask for buffs... etc.
-They can answer questions based in a data bank. Sort of A.I.
-They can easily be detected but it would be a crime if NC "could" detect them. It is a crime/violation to snif the PC internet band of the players. including the runing programs.
-I doubt NC is going to ban all the bots, they like the incomming money from the 1.934.831.084.739.874 accounts.
-Despise of all the people think, bots lower the price of the ingame items, and not the opposite.
-GameGuard doesn't ban any account it just dont let you open the game. But this is no probrem for chinese/german programers - best in the world IMO.

russians and chinese share control of most bots in L2.

thing worse that normal bots is raid boss farmers.
that existed in every server of L2.would kill every raid boss always when they spawn in 30 secs each.

now situation is much better with players farming raid boss now lol

botting is only a serious problem if gold is a very important aspect of the game. Like L2, without gold, you were worthless, there wasn't really a way to go and get your own gear, you had to farm/buy mats and pay someone to craft it, or just buy it. If you make it so most of the gear you need isn't available to buy (have to get it by farming an instance, or a boss of some sort), the gold farmer problem is less serious.

Don't need the doubt.

If you guys remember in Aion's beginning, they use to show off how the world adapts to its change. So lets say a bot is farming or even farmers them selves is taking over an area.... From what Ncsoft says, the monsters will go extinct and not spawn anymore and or a harder monster will spawn such as the mother lord of those monsters.

But as this discussion shows, Lineage II DOESN'T kick off botters. Wow does. Hopefully NCSOFT will change their ways. L2 being a pebble servers which is nothing compared to how much wow boulder, they probably get a good amount of money from botter's monthly payments.
