Drop rates, grind time, crappy crafting system ( 60% recipes...lol ) affect the games bots IMO. At least in the players piont of view, farmers are another topic. Farmers arent in it for what the players are in it for, sometimes. People sit there and say that the games need watched and that NCsoft is against botting/farming, I say BS. GMS CAN TELL WHEN PEOPLE ARE BOTTING. If they wanted to fix the bot prevention program they could and they would. Botting and Farming despite how it ruins games, brings in alot of money to the company. IMO if you own 9 accounts +, hell even more than 3 accounts there is something up with you. In terms of Lineage, that can be debated. ( In Lineage you got that crappy selling/buying system, OOP buffers ) NCsoft can say all the crap they want about how botting/adena selling is illegal, well talk is cheap. There is nothing that proves this. Minus the occasional bannings, yet somehow those banned bots get replaced and are S grade in a matter of a month.... It doesnt take a long time to get that high if you bot. Also if you notice, that the toons/accounts that hold the items for the farmers, dont get banned either. And I imagine that the items are transfered over to the "bank" every week or couple days.
Item binding, blah. As much as I dont want bots/farmers in aion, item binding isnt the solution. I love sharing my items and gear with really close friends and vice versa. I can see some items, like epics. ( this can help prevent farmers from controlling raids like they do in L2 , cause they wont have any reason to raid them ) Botting/Ebaying I never liked it, wish people didnt have to resort to this to play games, but it happens. To each their own. In the sense of Lineage 2, they might as well openly say botting/ebaying is allowed. Its really hard to enjoy that game without ebaying/botting or help from friends/clan. I have had a couple of friends just give up cause they couldnt afford to play, and so late in the game. It should be easier for new people to start IMO. Games should be balanced in a sense of grinding/questing/pvp. I think 90% of my server bots on Lineage, or ebays. How do you compete with that? Hopefully in Aion even if there are farmers/botters that it'll be controlled, unlike in Lineage 2. If it becomes like L2 I am either moving or joining. I play games to have fun, escape from RL, not to have a second job on top of all the other crap I gotta do. |

Making gold souldbound is good. Transfer between charater in same account can do it with bank that share with all charater in the account.
One thing i was wondering is why japanese, koreans, philllipines, chinese mmorpg dont have so expand problem with bots and gold sellers? How do they do? Make so player have to answer a question or type in a word every hour. Like type in dog 3 times, which picture is not a animal. But is a dilemma for company. More bann => less money from monthy fee. |

I agree that soulbinding everything is perhaps unnecessary and would be annoying. But you have to have it for top weapons in each lvl bracket. And maybe some other items.
You can't give players a shortcut to the top, or else RMTs will gladly step in to facilitate that shortcut. I think you should be able to buy some okay gear, for whatever lvl you are. But you should always have to personally work to get the top gear for your lvl. |

While I do not agree with buying gold online, one way to deal with bots would be to pull what "Sword of the New World" (or Granado Espada) did. They made a game shop, where you could buy gold or items readily. I haven't played it myself, but from just a quick look it seems to be like a good idea. I'm only saying this from looking at a non-buyer's point of view, seeing as I'm too cheap to invest more than a monthly fee in an online game . I'm wlling to say there would be a lack of bots (as people could get gold directly from the company with no issues of shady dealers) even if it ddn't stop them entirely. No game is bot free.I know people would buy the gold from day one and end up buying shiny phat loots, but how is that different from any other game where they buy it against the ToS? However, thinking on this now, gold selers would probably try to sell gold cheaper than the official site to get customers =/ |

ok i have only played one MMORPG owned by NCsoft and thats city of heroes/villains, and i have never in my over 9 months of playing seen a bot... but as far as i know they didn't create the game they just bought it from another company.
so does that mean that most if not all other NC soft games use game guard OMG this cant be happening, if they release aion with game guard... but they wont, will they???? there must be hundreds of other software that will protect from bots... so they should be able to afford a good quality software from somewere so that means they should buy it if they know how popular this game is... there are bound to be people out there who think "if i bot from the start i could reach level cap first," so they should spend a bit of money on a good software, because they seem to have spent enough on all the other software implemented into the game so why not do the same for a bot guard... __________________

They should just create a software that looks for patterns in play. Nobody follows there MA, then assists repeatidly, Then Follows MA, Then assists repeatidly. Just look for patterns and flag the character and have a GM look at them. If the flagged characters also get reported, those shoud go directly to the top of the pile.
There is always the Idea to make it only paid for by credit card, then if someone is caught bitting, charge them $500 dollars for each time caught. Of course this would have to be proen by a video or some other poof. To get rid of botters you just need to make it non profitable. |

ok i was just reading this tread and sorry for whoever said this, but i cant find it on the tread and quote you on it. But the best answer i heard for botting issue is gm's doing there jobs. Tha's the best answer i have heard so far. All of the ideas are great too, but i'm just thinking dam, honestly gm's needs to do what they are getting paid for. Blizzard's gm did a great job at watching who's botting, they couldn't always get rid of them, cuz they come back all the time, but dam didnt they ban like 10,000 bots. I know they send some sort of encrypt files from time to time that checks to see if your running anything while playing wow, least tha's what i heard on the forums.

Hum, Gold sellers is kinda hard to prevent unless the players report them. Talk about botting on a game that isn't launched yet, is useless for me, we don't know nothing about the prevention system they will use and what will be they politics against botting and boxing. Offcourse we all expect they do a better job on this game then they did on Lineage 2. But not only the bots ruined L2, the boring grinding and the lack of reasont to continue play except for grind also helped a lot.

How about they make it so that if you are killed, you drop all of the gold currently on your character? This would encourage actual players to go hunt gold farmers and bots. How’s that for deterrent?
