Get groups to grind with. Get vent to listen to something while you grind. Get people who are fun to be with.
Simple. ![]() If you hate to grind, Aion isn't for you. Its a Korean MMO, what do you really expect? EasyWoWmode? ![]() ![]() __________________ ![]() Go QQ elsewhere Carebear. |

Thanks, I did indeed hoped for a non-grind leveling process, not as easy as WoW, give me tons of challenging quests/group quests to level and I'll gladly do it, but grinding in itself just isn't for me =(

THEY HAVE ADDED A TON OF QUESTS IN THE VERSION WE ARE GOING TO BE RELEASING WITH.
People keep bringing up C-Aion, and they're still playing on a very old version. It's a Korean MMO, but they've stated all along they made it to appeal to a Western audience as well. People like to assume "asian grindfest" just by looking at its origins. You can tell they added titles for post count. So many people being "helpful" with misinformation. __________________

Nothing to worry about. This game has enough quests to keep you occupied for quite some time. Also, beleive me, Ive played sro for several years and its is one of the lamest mmo's of all time. Dont even compare the two games because sro is an afk game. This game is going to require you to actaully play. Take my advice, get the game. You'll be happy in the end.

My first 75 (max lvl) in FFXI took me 2 and a 1/2 -years- You have no room for complaint. ...I'll quit Aion very quickly if I can quest myself to max in a few weeks time, first char through. Levels should be earned. |

Judging from the content I've seen, I'd wager to say FFXI and Aion are equal in time to cap ( but with FFXI having the sub-class mechanic adding a bit more time ) ![]() |

As long as it isn't a second job - it should be enjoyable. Dark Age of Camelot grinding in the beginning was...horrid. When they helped fix it with overpowered expansions later on that made it easier.
...I've never tried L2 or FFXI though. Unless you count the Jedi grind in Galaxies. So far Aion has been awesome.__________________ Quote:

Go into a game with an open mind.
If you don't enjoy the game (because of past experiences... or whatever) Don't play. <3 I'm sure the community will be happier for it. |

Aion is definitely a harder game than WoW and takes longer to level. Whether the grinding (and there is some "grinding") is heavy or not depends on each playing experience and preference. In any case, I think NCSoft was intelligent in choosing to make Aion harder than WoW, but still a relatively easy game - certainly catering to a slightly different segment of the MMO market.
Given that WoW was the clone of all clones - I'm relieved that Aion isn't exactly a WoW clone. Last edited by toptier; 07-05-2009 at 08:44 PM.. |

I think the game should be compared to games like guildwars, where the endgame is similarly pvp oriented... and not the L2 and FFXI grind fests. Spending months grinding, then feeling the slight sensation of accomplishment is a thing of the past on the western market. Everyone had their fill of that primitive game philosophy at the turn of the century, with games like diablo 2. If you really want a game to sell well nowadays, you need to adjust your game so that the leveling process is less like labor, and more like a smooth, easy set of training wheels to ease the player into deep, hard-to-master game mechanics. Its always more fun when adept players distinguish themselves from new players through skill as much as possible, and as little from "time spent grinding" as possible. It helps people stay subbed longer, and entices more players to join. Edit: YW Last edited by Freelancer604; 07-05-2009 at 09:13 PM.. |

I've been playing FFXI since it's release years ago and still play until Aion's official releae since I'm not bothering to use my beta key from preorder to participate. You don't spend thousands of hours grinding in FFXI to obtain max level that's just exaggerating it.

I don't have the will nor the time to spend endless hours grinding mobs to enjoy higher level PvP (My main focus on the game.) If I have to suffer through brainless killing for months or over a year, I'd personally rather spend my time/money where I can get more direct PvP....just have to find what >_> ![]() |

I made it to about 11 without needing to grind. Then on until 20 I had to grind at least 1/2 of the level in addition to doing the quests in the area. It is a decent balance tbh, but I'm scared if it gets worse. I can't only stand so much mindless kill kill kill.
