I don't mean to burst any bubbles here but MMO = GRIND! That is what MMO's are about. If there was no LVL expectations then your character would just be complete with all talents and abilities right out of the box. Even this way the game would still be a grind because MMO's in recent memory have been about gear as a means of progression.
WoW is the KING of GRIND. Grind from 1 to 80. Get into a few Naxx runs for some starter epics then Grind Ulduar for some slightly better epics so that you can grind the Collusium so that you can Grind the early bosses in the next set of raid dungeons. PvP in WoW works the same way. Grind honor kinda then Grind arena points OR do pathetic dps in raids and pick up emblems for PvP gear. It helps if your Good (whatever that means) and/or have the reflexes of a cat and a T1 line across the street to the data center that houses your battle group. I'm not disparaging this type of game play. I've fallen victim to it on (counting 80's) 4 times and counting. What Grinding game play lacks is the pleasure of completion. __________________ ![]() Mercy for the Guilty is Treason to the Innocent -Terry Goodkind -Faith of the Fallen- |

Grinding is not fun alone... you actually need some people you know, a good challenge ( higher lvl elite mobs, good drops) and then like you say VENT. You guys don't like to fight mobs ? dunno what the hell you're doing in here. Questing makes everybody play all alone and care only for them.. You'll never be able to be on the same quests as your friends. Grinding nub mobs is boring yes. Last edited by pEpz; 07-06-2009 at 12:18 AM.. |

I don't know, I heard from a friend of mine who played World of Warcraft that you can get to level 80 in just a week? That's too freaking easy and fast. I played Final Fantasy XI for around 3-4 months, and my highest level was a level 61 Thief. When I first started playing FFXI, I didn't exactly play a lot so that's why it took a while for me to get to level 61. I liked needing to group with other people in FFXI to get experience. I like being in a team and teamwork in general. You make more friends this way, and I like making friends who have the same interests as me while playing games. At the same time, I did not like having to look for parties, and in the case of me being a Thief, I couldn't find any parties at all hardly. I had to start my own parties. So yeah, I'd like a harder leveling system than a leveling system that lets you be max level in one or two weeks.

So far playing during the most recent closed beta even for North America I haven't needed to grind at all. I did, though, because I wanted to see my strengths and weaknesses at different levels so I would grind on mobs a level or two below me just to get used to my new skills. For instance, I grinded from 1 to 3 on the mobs right where you appear after creating a new character. Then I did the first few quests, bought my skill books for 3 and grinded on mobs and finished the really early quests until 5. After 5 I had a bit of grinding for money, bought the new books, then took off blazing through the rest of the quests and didn't stop until 9 so I could ascend.
