I was playing Sword of the New World in wait for Aion, and needless to say there is no comparison. Aion is above and beyond my expectations so much so that I find myself totally immersed during game play.

Btw OP, not dissing, but paragraphs are your friend ^_^

I played FFXI for about 5 years before this, but that was my only MMO I seriously tried until now. tbh, I really liked the community sense of FF. It feels like pulling teeth trying to get the group stuff done in Aion without a Legion.

Now that I think about it, TF2 is kind of like an MMO. It's massive, multiplayer, AND online.

Team Fortress 2 > Anything, at the moment.

Haven't tried Aion yet though.

eh, I've played Wow, Guild Wars, FFXI, Ragnorak(sp?) and a couple others. Aion is great in my oppion. Its alot like WoW, but when you really are playing it, it has a totally different feel. at least to me. personally I'm tired of WoW, its the one I play most often, and well multiple reasons. Pvp is just about gear and enchants, which just means...I HAVE NO LIFE. and yeah, I want something that is more character based and less about how often you can play and get the best gear. I mean obviously you should have an advantage if you have better gear, but that souldn't make your character no matter what class you are. Thats my opinon.

I feel the main the reason their was such a community in FF was also one of the drawbacks. Leveling...unless you were soloing at a much slower rate...required an entire group. It helped build a group of people to talk to but it wasn't very casual friendly sitting in jeuno at 40 for hours LFG DD

My last MMO was Warhammer Online that I played for 9 months since the very beginning. Although it has extremely rich background lore to base the game upon and Mythic were adored like PvP/RvR gods due to DAOC success, the game greatly disappointed in the end.
Rich background did not lead to interesting PvE or interesting zones. I found Dwarf quests being extremely repetitive fluff-wise, Imperial and High Elven were not so bad. Some zones were better, some zones were too large and boring with no cute details to enjoy.
The great idea of Public Quests was spoiled by lack of population on most servers, grinding boredom and general extremely poor loot from those Public Quests. It was usually better to level quicker (even via normal quests or scenarios) and grab better quest/PvP gear. Game engine is poor - you get stuck in terrain very often. You can unstuck, but that means logging off. There're certain places where you cannot unstuck and must call GM or use your recall book if your CD was not wasted.
It had 20 classes in the beginning, now it has 24. They are not mirrored and although there're certain pairings, so we can say there're 12 similar classes with their mirrors, it's more than in Aion. Unfortunately many classes have led to immense balance issues with some classes being extremely underpowered or overpowered even if they mirror was not. So now I say: less is sometimes better.
PvP/RvR was good on low levels, during game's highend it was hardly affected by constant lag, AoE damage and overpowered abilities - Disorient trains (AoE ability that will cause all your abilities to have delay of 1-2-3 seconds, due to gamelag it meant like 3-10-neverever), AoE BW/Sorc bombs, Riftgroups. Certain classes were extremely useless while certain classes shadowed every other.
What I consider very good in Warhammer is your ability to PvP from level 1. Yes, you lack abilities, but you're boosted to X8 level (ie. 8, 18, 28 or 38), so the abilities you have are becoming stronger and you gain more HP. I'd miss PvP on low levels in Aion. But as long as highend PvP in Aion is lagless, isn't dominated by certain 1-2 classes while others are irrelevant to gameplay, I'd be happy bunny!
Crafting in Warhammer is underdeveloped and although has interesting ideas like cultivating plants on the run, could and should be better. I like crafting and look forward to crafting in Aion.
Endgame in Warhammer suffers from great lags, is very boring and certainly lacks development.

In short:
I want to PvP. I want to be able to PvP solo and in group.
I want to enjoy world with nice zone ideas, cute details and general in-love feeling.
I want to craft and I want to be able to have fun in auction.
I want to enjoy developed endgame.
I do not want to endure lag in 50+ people battles.

Thank you for very interesting thread.
Nice, yeah I heard that was one of the best thing about Warhammer is you can pvp at lvl 1.
too bad i never try it tho :/

The game had awesome potential, but it was wasted. Hopefully now with MJ being "relocated" and Mythic company becoming "subordinate" of Bioware in EA MMO group, it may change, but I very much doubt it.

Haven't played a subscription MMO in years, been waiting for this one

Played City of Heroes/Villains the most, which I really liked. Been playing the Champions Online beta, but the controls were a bit too strange for me, and I lost interest quickly. Think it'll wait until it comes on console. I want a good sci-fi MMO cos I get bored of fantasy ones, so I think Star Trek Online will fill that void.

Played FF11, didn't like it at all. Also tried WoW for a month, but didn't really get into it. Played RF Online since it's European launch until the servers closed. Aion's art style reminds me a lot of RF Online.

I'm really liking Aion so far though, I haven't felt this excited or addicted to a MMO in a long time. Not even WoW could attract me as much as this has.

He'll probably end up getting himself banned.

Did you seriously just quote yourself, why havent you been banned yet?

Anyway, I come from Silkroad Online, the game is very grind heavy, but the PVP aspect of it is very balanced for what it has, however the company running it does not give a damn about management therefor 95% of every server is made up of gold bots and or player bots.
