Well... Enable voice chat only for guilds/parties with the option to completely mute players. If someone annoys you -> mute and you don't have to get angry

Well, even if you don't have a mic you can turn it on and hear what everyone else is saying (in DDO you could anyway). You have to contribute by typing, but at least you're in the vocal loop.

what Haubix said =) tho i think you should have to join the guild voice chat 'channel,' and is not just something you log into everyday. i know guild chats can be kinda crazy... imagine that all in....noise >.<

If its there ill use it, but personally i would prefer to stick with vent or TS cuz sometimes you run intolag or somethigns just up with your coputer and its nice to be able to just close out your voice program. If its built in, sure you can shut off the sound off, but its still there....

They should introduce voice chat for those that want it, but it shouldn't be a big part of endgame. I hate that. I actually prefer typing. I couldn't see FFXI being the same experience chatting instead of typing. Typing gives you a bigger feel of the game than voice chat, IMO

i like the idea of ingame voice, the biggest problem with it would be the potential for abuse.

abuse? there shouldn't be public voice chats, only groups and guilds. i guess voice chat would be more harmful to virgin ears than text can be. maybe some way of knowing whether or not someone was a child or something during gamplay so people can gauge their language according to that information. but people will still be stupid and have vulgar language anyways. i dont know. but you do bring up a good point. i don't think mmo's attract vulgar people as much as fps's.

After reading i would agre that if there were public chat were anyone ina certaint radius of you could here wat your saying could be abused quite well..... I would go with party and guild talk nothing else.... untill they make the games abit more advanced like crysis graphics for online game voice chat should stay in guilds and partys though i would mind there been a local you can just choose to turn it on or not ....

Built-in voice chat is kinda iffy as it is already, I mean look at BF2142...granted it works really well if your mic is at the perfect setting, but if your mic is finicky at all (like mine in a way), you won't hear me what so ever. But on vent I sound just fine...so honestly I don't think that's a problem....as for an mp3 player, EQ1 has that, and it works rather well. It's about 4-5inches wide and 3-4 inches long and you can save playlists and all that jazz into it. Cool part of it was that when you would type /mp3 to add / remove music, and then zoned somewhere else, the mp3 player window would auto hide itself, thus giving you that much more space on your screen to look at stuff. But then again the ingame music is supposed to be epic, so hopefully at least I won't need a /mp3 function. XD

Hey, many ppl can't understand spoken English, specially at 32Kbps or so. That would ruin the game.
And believe me, you can't understand MY spoken English either.

Developing effort is best putting in content rather than duplicate teamspeak/ventrilo/winamp features.

Ok the problem with team speak and so on you need a server... which cost money......I don't seem the harm in adding a Voice chat system for Partys and guilds public would really only work if you had a english speaking Only server's or wat ever other langs... which would be abit of a hassel to do.

But i don't see the problem i allowing guilds to you'se it if they want to. and partys... I would have to say working in a team is alot easyer when youcan talk to them right away instead of taking 1 min to write wat you must and probably have i lost in the spam of other people talking. yeah i know about party chat....

I don't see how multi-language communities would make public voice anymore difficult, than a normal type chat with a multi language community. You simply have to hear the differant languages as oposed to reading them.

You all are talking about how people won't be able to use it or won't be able to understand each other or the mics are low quality. That isn't the point. The point is for the people that DO want to use it they don't have to go 3rd party, it's already there and ready to use. Keep text chatting in the game. By all means, I want it to stay, just put voice chatting in also. Have both. You don't have to sacrifice text chat for voice.

I want to know who actually said get rid of text chating I didn't say it once.... though wat i said could of been mistaken for it. text chat will always be apart of any game even in the future when they may fully utilise ingame voice chat Texting will still be in the game..... I don't know how Voice chat is gonna work if you want to send someone a pm

I'm not against built in Voice chat, but they better have it as a plugin so it can be completely turned off and not use bandwidth/resources. My experience with built in voice chat is that it has terrible quality and terrible features.

When I played WoW we used ventrilo and it worked out great, more flexible, better voice quality, and you could see who was in the channel, or talk with people not playing WoW at the time. A good ven server for 100 people goes for like 20 bucks a month, so if you set up a paypal account for your guild it shouldn't be a problem.

As for MP3 players, I think its a waste. if you want to play MP3s while you play set up a playlist or buy a keyboard with media buttons to switch without tabbing.
