Do male players more often play female chars compared to females playing male chars ?

If males didn't forget that characters from online games were not representative of the real world population, you would probably get more females admitting to playing as females.

I try hard to avoid playing female toons as I am a guy and every time I roll a female toon a guy would hit on me. Better to be reeking male with a seven foot tall mega buff gladiator then have guy after guy hit on a petite cleric. I assume all players are guys until I have enough proof they are female. Can't go wrong that way.

The majority of the characters in my legion are female, but only two of us actually *are* female players, lol.
I assume other players are male unless the voice on vent proves otherwise (and even THEN I'm sometimes suspicious =P).

Why do people get hung up on this? It's a game people, and a role playing one at that. Your character isn't you, it isn't a representation of you, nor is it anything other some pretty pixels. Get over it, and play whatever the hell you feel like at any given moment. Just assume all characters may or may not not be played by someone of the same sex, and don't lose any sleep over it.

Character gender is such a non-issue, people really need to stop beating this dead horse. Seriously, the horse died like five years ago. People are literally jumping up and down on a pile of dried up horse bones at this point. Poor horse. Let it rest in peace for love of god. What did the horse ever do to you anyway?

To answer the thread question though, more males play females... probably because they like to dress their characters up like playboy bunnies and fantasize about them. Lame.

I'm a female but I usually will have a main male character. This wasn't true for WoW because I didn't like any of the male characters there. While I like playing as a girl, I get really quickly annoyed with the ridiculous armor (lets just leave the stomach uncovered, that's not vulnerable!) and the female voices (blood elf female much?).

I like to tank too, and sad to say but I have found that people tend to automatically question my tanking ability if they know I am female, before they even see me try:

"Have you done this before?"

"Are you playing your boyfriend's character?"

lol BCS you've talked about homosexuals quite alot in this thread by now, you find them so facinating? I'm sure if you google around a bit you'll be able to find a dating site or something, but really, aionsource isnt the right place for that.

I play both, i just think some characters work better as male others better as female, the way i see it there is nothing strange about choosing an opposite to your own sex in a fantasy game, if anything it enhances the experiance personally i play games to escape reality a little, the people i really feel uneasy over are the ones who make a clone of themselves in a game and play it, thats a little disconcerting to me as though they perhaps a little to detached O.o although saying that i cant rememeber my freind bob/dave/jon/sarah/jane/anne ever walking around with green skin and glowing red eyes (well maybe after a night out) anyhow reality is just to unreal for me thesedays

I am a female and i generally play female characters. I made a male once and changed the sex when I decided it was going to be my new main, lol. I dont really like the skimpy armors, but I dont like ugly armors either. Since wearing my Mirage chain set, I've come to find the I prefer skimpier prettier armors over things that make my boobs look like they come out of a National Geographic Magazine. On some other fronts, my man always rolls a male toon as his main, but usually has a few female alts. And my Bro-in-laws always roll male. I can understand why guys roll fem chars, but it still creeps me out. I usually think of a char as a fem irl if its a fem in game. Even when I KNOW its a male i still say she. o.o
