House System

Well we already know that there will be a housing system for Aion, enabling you to have your own private place among other things we've yet to hear about, but talkin in Vent with some buddies made me think..

I wonder if they plan to extend this Housing System into Guilds. I think it'd be amazing if as a Guild you could have the option to build your own "house", but in this case, a much larger place, such as a Castle. It would take the proper crafters (Mason for building walls, etc), time, and obviously a large amount of gold, but I think it would add a lot to the game. It would really bind a Guild together, having to all contribute to make a good looking place, a place where you can spend your downtime in, crafting, etc. With this, you could also bring in the PvP, allowing other Guilds from the opposite nation to attack and possibly take over your castle. Obviously they couldn't just randomly attack, but it could be set up to have GvG if an opposing Guild chose to try and claim your Guild Castle.

Just a thought, and there's a million more details in my head about this, but I was just offering up a little explanation of my idea..What do you guys think?

Would be a nice idea. But only in towns please. Otherwise the whole area near good hunting grounds, etc. is littered with houses and you can open a village there >.<

Hey soraan love the idae... but heres a view... Instaed of just the other guild trying to take your castle make it that both your castles are on the map and you can either go attack the other guild castle or defend yours..... also i want theree to be different types of guild battles like a 1life battle were ever player only gets one life, this wil make players think more when they fight and not just rush in like a mad man and get raped by 4 mages at the same time. people will have to use there brains for once

I think I would like to see these guild spaces like the guild halls in EQ. It was just an instanced zone for your guild. Had 1 guild bank, and 1 bank, plus a variety of crafting spaces.

I have yet to see a game that has a housing feature which actually does something other than provide another feature for the developers to ridiculously boast about.

L2 Guild halls were a joke, they said you could «customize» houses but you could barely change anything, most things were restricted to the most expensive guild halls. It was cheaply done if you ask me, I'd like to be able to set a guild hall on a flying rock near the abyss or a super secret spot, they could restrict lots of area's and make guild hall enabled houses grounds rare to find.

Oh and for player houses, I could really see myself outside a small house near a nice crystal blue river using bought house items(Like an anvil to craft goods)...

I'm a fan of instancing, in the next update of lotro they are adding housing that will be instanced, but in their own towns. Meaning not just your own house that is instanced but a neighborhood. Remains to be see how this will work and how well but I find the idea interesting, and it doesn't add clutter to the world..

That would be the way to go IMNSHO. it gives you the house that alot of people think is cool, lets people stroll through the neighborhood but doesnt lend itself to sprawl as it did in SWG.

For the Developer housing and decorating the house is content for some and doesn't care what level you are. SWG had decoratrors that used in game items to make impresive displays. Any added content that comes out of a game mechanic is gravy for companies and makes me wonder why many companies don't bother.

I dunno, I loved being able to walk into a random person's house in SWG and check out their set-up. Sure you could lock it if you wanted, but it brought back old style RPG nostalgia of being able to barge in on anyone, anytime. Bwahaha

And you still can in an instanced neighborhood.

I'm not a big fan of instances in general. In today's gaming it doesn't seem too far fetched for me to believe everything can exist on a map. Lots of building plots in cities and a few in certain areas of the land should be enough. SWG was nice in that you could build anywhere, but it really took away from the scenery and spawn rates in some places.

Its hard to say. I'll be very interested to see how its implimented in LOTRO. But to me theres nothing quite as painful as a loading screen when a game can immerse you in every other way.

You and me both Yakuzan, maybe we can be neighbors in Aion....anyways Guild halls are a nice idea if done right because sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name (Cheers reference).

Well of course, we were actually thinking castles that could be built up in the sky, and underwater if they choose to make that a part of Aion.

You'd have the option to attack a castle and defend your own, and we also thought that the possibility of your Guild being absent while an enemy attacks and losing your castle would really bite..Perhaps by attacking a castle and defeating your enemy (And NPC Guards, etc to give the team with the castle an advantage..a must) you could destroy some of their features. For instance, if they had a drawbridge, or a blacksmith building or whatever, they could be destroyed during the battle.

I think it'd be awesome to get together with Guildies and group together for months to make a great big castle. I also think that this shouldn't just be a standard thing that every Guild has..Something this grand has to be more elitist, where really you do need to have some serious money and resources to build something worthwhile. Of course, there will always be small ones, but then there will also be the 2-3 big powerhouses with gigantic castles

I like the idea of housing and maybe once a guild is large enough is able to buy land and build a castle on that land. Hire your own black smith and bartender for your pub. Peasants start to come into your castle and you rent them land you originally purchased so they can setup shops and bizarres or maybe just land for farming. The more farming you have the lower the prices of food and other things are (WoW has a food system, drink water/regain mana, eat food/regain health. some foods increase stats) Hire miners to lower prices of metals which will in turn lower the prices of blacksmiths and armor/weapon merchants. So on and so forth. AKA you can create a whole new town. Of course inflation would have to be the key so that not EVERY guild can do this eating up the entire land.
