Im beginning to fear US Aion cant do much about bots

Hi guys,

I think NCsoft US cant really do much about the bots. Yes they can ban but bots will still keep on comin bak. In korea and Taiwan (just opened recently) has already got alot of bots.

Just to think about it, how much can NCSoft be better than Taiwan and Korea in getting rid of bots? well i dont really think there will be a big diff. the results will be similar.

Ppl have complained about bots in china. I understand that in china it is run by some chinese company and NCsoft cant do anything about it.

I know about Taiwan is pretty strict about banning bots. More serious than US. i have some friends that play online games in Taiwan. And some of the strategies was that for the user to login to the account to play, they will need to use their mobile phone to call (free call) a number to give them access to login . The person who is running BOT cannot buy millions of mobile account to login each account. It didnt guarantee NO BOTS but it did reduce alot of BOTS. But it also means it bit of troublesome to everytime u want to play, u have to make a call. I dont no wat strategy Taiwan is using to reduce BOTS.

Remember, Taiwan server blocks overseas IP so therefore majority players are base in Taiwan so they can use this strategy. In NCSoft US, they wont be able to implement this kind of strategy is because too many countries playing in US.

I hope NCsoft US can come up wif some better strategy to deal wif bots otherwise this game will be hot at the start and dies off later.

I believe someone, somewhere informed on these boards that US servers are limited to US residents only. Thus no foreigners of any type. Although if this is correct, that would not completely eliminate 'bots'. There are US residents who farm MMO currency and whatnot.

I think there's a difference between "alot of bots" and "NCSoft indifference'. NCSoft is banning bots, that's the silver lining everyone is looking for. They didn't do much for L2, but if NCSoft wants Aion NA/EU to succeed, then they are on the right step. As long as those bots get reported and they get banned, in the higher levels we shouldn't see any get through.

It's up to the community, as well as the GMs, to combat the botting problem. If we remain vigilant in our reports, and if the GMs hold up their end of the bargain, Aion should be fairly bot-free.

Not nearly in the same numbers though.

They can't do anything about bots. The only thing they can do is pull a ban stick here and there.

There are also still proxys. It will cut back slightly on the bots for those companies that dont use the proxy. We will see less bots than the asian companies anyways because selling in-game items is not illegal in those countries. However, China just announced it becoming illegal there a couple weeks ago.

Im based in Australia, we are getting US version. So this is not correct about US residents. What about canada, south america ppl? They will be playing in US too.

also alot of korean, taiwan players are of course complaining to the company running aion in their countries. of course the company wants to get rid of bots, but they cant. SO basically US, korea, taiwan will have similar percentage of BOTS.

We don't know. The game isn't even out in NA or EU yet, so such speculation is just that. Speculation.

Honestly in the CN version, NCSoft doesn't handle that, so there isn't much they can do.
For the KR version, I hear that NCSoft is actively getting rid of bots and bot accounts left and right. However, it seems as if in their case, there are more bots showing up than they can actively delete. I'm sure their methods will become more streamlined as time goes on.

For NA or EU, it seems as if those respective branches know that bots are a major issue both with the game and the community, and I am pretty sure that they will do everything possible to limit those infractions.

Time will tell, but I will have faith in NCSoft.

Even the chinese servers have mostly eliminated bots the last few times I checked, so I dont expect to see one in our servers on a regular basis.

I hear they don't show much restraint with banning.

If you spot a bot, press the report bot button

If everyone does this, Aion will be a better place

They need to be pro-active themselves to stop botting. Once their GM count drops to the point they are mostly dependent on players reporting people to spot bots its all but over.

People caught botting should also have the IP address banned. So they lose the cost of a cd key plus a paid proxy if they had that. Free proxies throttle your bandwidth so hardcore that those are still a problem, but not to a huge degree.

Honestly, I wonder if it's hard to prove botting

What if the GM arrives at the scene besides the botter and the botter replies to his PM?

Truth is, you'll never get rid of bots. Ever. Even in WoW, there are so many botters, it would blow your mind.

I know an entire guild that has been botting since Wrath. Not a single person banned. This is a war you can't win.
