I'd like in-game voice if and only if it were party based, or guild based, or both. Can't have everyone trying to talk in town UNLESS it's area-limited, like Halo 2's (you can only hear a person talking if you're near them).

Well there are many ways they could implement it with surrounding areas. I for one currently host a 50 person vent, and my clan hosts a 500+ TS and they still seem to win over due to "control" of the system. Such as admin powers, keeping people out, privacy channles while playing and or being in two channles at once.
However the simplisty of in game chat helps a lot with PUGs. Instead of giving out vent or TS and hoping they have it, no softwear to d/l and simple plug and play for in game chat. Also you know the system is ment to work with it and should not have any lag issues. __________________ Not all who wander are lost! |

Again although I think Koji is the only other one to know about planetside no matter how much I spam it :P
Planetside has a Squad Based in voice system you set up you squad or even platoon and you can host an ingame voice chat between the people in your sqaud, nice for all those tactical manouvers and requests for air support and the likes. __________________ And when I'm tired of feeling black, just spread the wings upon your back. I think they won't implement it into the game, because it would give people who can make use of it far more competitive then people who can't. As far as i know they want this game to be competitive.
![]() Plus having a mic shouldn't be a requirement to get into a group. But if you really want to use one get Ventrilio or Teamspeak (Vent rocks TS because TS is often laggy.) __________________

I think they should add it for in party things to allow it to be easier for battles and such. As for being more competitive, someone will always have the advange because most people will just get their own server from someone for vent. It just makes it a lot easier so that people wont have to pay for a server which means more people will use it.

That's something that's always possible, but hasn't been confirmed as being in Aion - or not being in. In other words, I don't know, but I will ask.
![]() There's a voice chat system going into Tabula Rasa, which Destination Games (part of NC Interactive, in the US) are developing. It's always possible the same system could be used for Aion, but I haven't heard about voice chat being implemented. If it is, I'm sure Studio 5 (Aion's dev team) will take steps to ensure it doesn't give a large competitive advantage to players who use it. __________________ Rockjaw Creative Concepts Manager, NCsoft Europe Quickly, chums - to the Blogmobile!! Dont think there are steps that can be taken, any guild worth anything already use Teamspeak or Ventrilo religiously and already have the advantage. Assuming Aion even tried to implement their own VOIP system, if it doesnt meet the needs of these players then they will continue using their superior methods. The only thing I can think of, right now, that might fall into the competative advantage category is if a guild is using voice chat is if enemies can enter their channel and just scream into the mic preventing them from issuing commands, disruption of that nature.

With or without in game voice system, I think wither way people will still use teamspeak for clans ect, but as far as in game voice system, I think it s ouhld olny be applied to gulid, parties and friends, ect.

Generally, PvE is easy enough due to predictable AI's that you don't need to communicate much while doing it. I don't know if this will be the same with AION. PvP is a different story though. Here, the people with voice communication will have a clear advantage, and generally do better (assuming team-based combat). However, if PvP is mostly done as a guild, then people would be fine just using TS or Vent. It is for random PvP groupings that built-in voice would become handy. While the voice chat does sound nice, there are a few downsides that should be considered.
That said, I personally think built in voice chat would be a good thing for AION. And with the way recent games have been going, I think we have a pretty decent chance of getting it. |

I'd have to say I'd be against the implementation not really because it wouldn't help but because it wouldn't get used. You'd only use it in groups of people that you don't know. and from every other game I've been on the people didn't use their mic's to speak to random people they don't know.
People only really want to talk using voice chat to talk to people they know, friends, guildmates. For those they simply use Ventrilo. |
