My girlfriend likes grinding. She dont like to group so much, and mostly plays solo. So she likes to do quests and can spend hours just killing mobs.
Me myself... It can be OK if you dont have anything else to do, if you cant find a group or theres no PvP going on.
But it looks like that Aion's gonna have atleast some PvP going on all the time.

Apparently, while not everyone likes grinding, everyone does enjoy talking about it (66 pages, wtf?).

Anywho, I'm sure this has been said, but I actually kind of prefer having to grind because it encourages me to take my time, go at my own pace, and enjoy the full game instead of just the endgame. I don't even mind if there aren't quests to do, because that just gives me more freedom to explore the map however I like and just kill or gather whatever I come across on the way for xp.

The key is movement though, sitting at a camp with a group and pulling ten thousand of the same type of mob to you for hours is kind of ridiculous imo. People probably enjoyed the style of instanced dungeons in WoW because they forced you to keep moving, see new things, and handle different situations (while they were used to camping). Players could have taken that step on their own without the developers putting them in a box (if the game had been designed like previous titles).

Actually, it's very relaxing. That, a good beer or wine and some good music and it can be a bit zen.

In a game where the world is alive, diverse and designed to be explored, I love wandering around finding camps of different types of mobs with different behaviours and settling down to a bit of grinding. However I find grinding in Aion is terribly boring.

I like grinding. I prefer if they have questing and grinding both as viable options. (Yes, I know questing is basically grinding, blah blah). A few quest-oriented games practically force you to chain-quest to level, and I really don't like that style.

I agree with this to an extent. In WoW if you're a level 80 no one cares. It's nice to be noticed for your level, but it should also be fun getting to the top. If Aion makes grinding enjoyable somehow, I'm all for it.
