Eh if you can't get your gear/money yourself, then I guess handouts are your only option...which is sad. Though most guys should just presume all chars are dudes until told otherwise, if only to lessen any awkward moments when you tell him how sexy/cute he is xD

I wouldn't turn down a free handout if it's a gift. But I'm not about to complain about my lack of money for that really pretty item near some rich men so they might give me money.

Sadly the Online Community doesn't work in that direction. Unless its a RL friend or a good friend giving the gift to you. For a male character there will never be random gift giving or money giving from someone you don't know unless their quiting the game or its your lucky day.

But on Topic I generally don't care if a male plays a female because people shouldn't be trying to be romantic on a online game unless you know that person in RL, because online everyone can put on a mask and pretend to be someone they aren't (Or rather be the person they are, which could be a total jerk). And face it if your resorting to trying to get some online thats pretty sad and if your trying to get something out of someone, thats sad also because it clearly shows your unable to earn it yourself.

Don't get me wrong though if its a harmless flirt with someone you know with no intention of items or money thats fine, tons of people do it in various MMOs like FFXi though 99% of all females on that game are males.

I do this at Christmas events on my games and give away some valuable items if I have them.
Also if you're in a guild, people will usually donate items if your character class can use them.


My vote was ...freak? because I'm sure it meant "no, I don't play opposite gender characters", though I don't really think men who play females or females who play males are freaks. If the guys want to watch pixellated female "chests"(eh, why is **** censored? :/ ) all day, it's not really my problem, long as they leave me alone. Now if they start watching *my* character's pixellated "chest" I usually try and get them to stop following me...usually by going into an area with aggressive monsters they don't want to run in to.
If they randomly open trade, and give me an item, well...who wouldn't press accept? They have wholly stated it's yours when they accept the trade and pass it to you. If they expect you to "be ther g1rlfrend!!" though, hah, I close trade and run into more aggro monsters. If it's a high level person I log out for a few minutes. If all else fails I have to lie and say I'm a guy so they can get embarrassed and then run after the next random female character that goes near. (which shows just how desperate they are )
As for females who play male characters, it's usually to keep the above ^^^ from happening.
I can't play male characters though. I hate how they run, and I would rather dress a female character. Female clothes ingame usually look better and have more options...and to be honest, it's sort of like choosing a "Barbie" doll or a "Ken" doll...no matter how terrible that sounds.

I only give people gifts if:
A) They ask for them and I can give it to them without damaging my characters stats
B) I'm in a good mood (most of da time)
C) They are totally clueless (one person in WoW lsot all her clothes cuz she didn;t know what durability was, so I gave her some gold to reapir herself then asked her to be my girlfriend, . jk.
D) Ive got duplicates of an item
E) Its some kinda holiday

Those are da only reasons I will give gifts, . lol.

Only time I gift if its a close good friend of mine, not for my class and rather give it to someone who needs it over money, or like eddy14 said some sort of holiday.

Other then that I'm tired of people in FFXI who are like "Give me 5k or give me this or that." I've actually had someone sent me a tell going "Hello!" I reply "Yes?" and they have the nerve to say "10k Can I have it? Thank you"

People have this sickness where they think just because your high level or higher then them at least that you -must- give them a gift of some sort. Now that being said don't label me as a jerk I'm naturally a nice person, but it annoys me on how people can sit there and play a game expecting to get their goals by begging or fooling others.

Guess they never heard of the word hard work.

Yeah, guess I should of made my previous post a bit clearer. I don't mind giving or receiving gifts but more towards the asking for handouts. Of course if the person seems a bit nooby and I have the extra money or gear to give out then sure its not a big deal. I'll generally give money to people who don't ask me for it, usually to someone I party with and generally if i plan on partying with them later on its just a friendly thing to do.

To me you'll never have enough money to handout, because you do need to buy higher level gear which cost money. Which is why i only give money handouts as a loan unless your a good friend of mine and have helped me in some sort of way before.

When I was in high school I went to a pretty low income area high school for a few years. One time when I was with my friend after school getting stuff out of the vending machine, we were approached by 2 girls. I was buying stuff for me and him, so I had a lot of change coming out since I was putting like 6 dollars into the machine. The girls stood behind us, stuck out their arm, and said, "Let me get your change." I had about 2 dollars in change here from the stuff I had gotten, of course I was going to say no. Their faces changed completely. They actually were getting mad at me for not giving them my money.

At this point I was laughing. After me and my friend laughed for about a minute straight they weren't very happy. "Why the **** are you laughing?" I quickly replied, "Because it's funny as sh*t that you are getting mad at ME for not giving you MY money." This didn't sit well with them, I didn't really mind much, after all, they were relatively small girls. They spit out a few insults, I can't remember them off the top of my head but I do remember saying something along the lines of, "I'm not the one begging some random guy just for a candy bar." After that we just walked away.


But yes, I am entitled to your items.
