Males playing as females??

My characters are always male.
However, I have nothing against those who choose to go female. Infact, I'm under the impression that the only ones who would really care about such a thing would be those who beleived them to be female and found out after giving them items or 'dating' them ingame. Of course, I could be wrong. Who knows?

Males can play as females, but females should not be able to play as males. We need more females characters in-game so as to maintain an equal sexual composition. Otherwise there'll be tons of luckless male toons who'll be unable to find a mate and reproduce. Which will thus decrease the popularity of the game as fewer and fewer toons are being born.

So I probably missed a few parts to this thread. I had to skim after the first 3 pages, as there are TWENTY FOUR in total. hahaha... Highlights have included the pervert theory, the artistic theory, the situational context theory, the rip off theory, the mentally unstable theory, a emo girl apparently self destructing, an intense self disclosure, something about child abduction (wtf) and some insightful input. The best part I read was a post about improving self esteem and confidence by character association. That was really cool .

Me? I've only played males but, my girlfriend plays the same games I do. There would be something really odd about playing as a female toon while my IRL 5"1 girlfriend runs around with me as some huge barbarian guy haha.

I've seen all of the things brought up in this thread and I can tell you this much: There is waaaaaaay more ingame content and cool people to play with than there are gender confused 40 year olds, Gold diggers, and guys who can't get laid haha. Tolerance and a /ignore button will solve all your problems if you have any.

As for my opinion on it, I think it depends on the reasoning. Every good story needs a good lead char so, it all comes down to what story are you playing through? If you're male and you roll a female toon to stare at her *** then, congrats on your romance novel but, You may be a little to 'personally involved'. If you're male, roll a fem char and then try to seduce guys and decieve them, you either have some personal issues that need to be sorted out or, you best accept how people on your server will see you as a person. Yes, word does travel quickly. If you roll a fem char because that's the char you want to see flying around and pwning, more power to you.

Honestly, I didn't feel awkward having an appreciation for Mila Jovovich in the Resident Evil movies. She kicked *** and she looked amazing doing it. I also didn't pant like a dog in heat every time she bent over. At the same time, I imagine if half way through the movie she 'whipped it out' and said (in a Barry White voice) "My real name is Alan, not Alice." people would be less than impressed.

MMO gaming is a virtual community. The same rules apply. Be upfront and honest about things and you'll get a good rep. No one will care about toon gender. Sure theres going to be some morons running around doing stupid **** but, you can't blame a monkey for being a monkey.

Thanks because noobs like me who believe every game should be a WoW clone and my character should be able to 1 shot characters 10 levels higher than me have a hard time understanding some of these complicated and hard to read posts made by our more intelligent members.

Well, I personally don't have a problem with whatever someone plays. It's their character and I can't really tell someone they are wrong to play a male/female character.

Being male or female has nothing to do with how well you play, and to those who think that females aren't as skilled as male players it ain't true.

What is sad is that some females have to pretend to be males just to avoid pervs in vid games. My guild leader in WoW made a male Tauren Warrior called Testosterone and I never suspected she was a female till she told me. The best warrior I had ever seen was secretly a 17 year old girl!

Personally I would make a female character if there was advantage to it like a race bonus or something but otherwise no...I'd feel like a cheap e-***** if people kept giving me free stuff all the time
