The answer to your question can be found in this thread, since I've posted it several times.
Basically, it's how alot of players act and feel like and since that somehow makes the pathetic in some way kind of normal, in Online Games the rational and indulgent have to be put on a level with terms such as divine or genius, because infact, they're a minority and worthy of commendation.

Since the majority of quality of a MMORPG is based on how helpful and gentle the community is, we should all applaud those people for not treating random players disrespectfully for no further good reason that makes any good compromise, therefore doesn't make any sense in a massively multiplayer group based game.

Simply put, get along, follow the rules of humanity to create a worthwhile community or gtfo and play hopeless things such as Counter Strike or Warcraft III.

Meh I think WC3 is passed its prime...

Now on the topic of playing male or female... its whatever floats your boat IMO.
I however do play male, just don't feel right with uhm... the female body parts on my characters >.>

The Community with Warcraft III: Frozen Throne was horrible, in DOTA players would insult one another for no good reason just to start a fight with a player that was reeled in by the bait; same go for actual games where you were completely chewed out when a player did not follow someone's orders as if they were the leader.

The people that acted with kindness towards another human being were Clan/Guild mates and good friends the rest were labeled a enemy without even knowing the person.

Onto Counter Strike I never actually played the game, but I have heard that the community was also horrible with people calling each other noobs or nubs just because they believed they weren't suppose to die; A community such as Counter Strike makes me wonder if players actually act like the "BOOM HEADSHOT" video when they die.

You get those kinds of people in all games. It just becomes about how you surround yourself with the few really nice people that play MMOs. It's why if I don't have a guild that stresses having cool people that don't go around name calling, I like to get my buddies together and make one so we can game without the irritation.

/agree

I have two brothers and about 5+ friends that are going to play Aion alongside with myself, we plan to create a guild together and run it together and we also plan to group together and grind together until max cap to prevent the hassle of dealing with idiotic people we have a healer, a tank, and damage dealers there for we never have to search for a random person unless one of us picks not to play at the moment or to busy to.

We also all plan to play Age of Conan together until Aion is released; Having those who are close to you even though they are not blood and those who are, just takes away the stress of the real world and the real people who habit it.

Earth and Beyond had the best community ever. It was a space based mmorpg, and an early one. I'd say 3/4 of the players were over 18.

On my first night of playing, someone invited me to this guild with 1000+ people, gave me a 2 hour tour of the galaxy/how the game works (i think he got some exploration experience from me being in the party with him...there was trading, combat and exploration exp in the game, each went to lvl 50). I was also given free weapons, reactor and engines that were the best you could get until lvl 50 (max lvl is 150). It was my first mmo, and since then no community has ever even come close to comparing.

Yer i totally agree, ive also got 4 friends and a brother who are coming into aion with me. Aswell as my cousin and his 4 friends. Having your own friends in a guild makes things run so much smoother, having known from expereience, and also adds to the gamin experience.

Aye, but you have to be careful there. They may be your friends but they do have there own opinions thoughts and feelings that may differ from yours.. even though these things may only be games. Unfortunately I've seen RL friendships torn apart because of peoples different ideas... Sounds kinda dumb because its a game but at the same time you have to make sure to take everyones ideas in group into consideration

If you plan to run a guild together that's one of the first rules otherwise the guild will never take off. Same goes for grouping because you all needed to pick a spot to level, what to level off of, and until how long.

haha. Its funny you mention that. When i was playing l2 i met a couple of other Aussies who were best friends, mid 20's early 30's. Then after i left the game, one of the mates decided to steal the other dudes gear off his account and sold off some of the joint characters. Classic example of friendships torn over a game.
