My opinions is the same as before, but I did have something I want to add to it (others have said it already, but oh well...). In response to the people saying that men that role women for any sort of advantage/to "seduce gamer geeks" all I have to say is that if you let them, you deserve it 100%. If you don't have the common sense to at least get them into vent with you, well then you deserve to get ripped off. Even then, though, there's something inherently creeperish about fawning over women in video games, so I hope they get a female friend of there's in vent to convince you further. I mean, I actually have some experience with this, but in a slightly different respect. There was a woman in one of my guilds in WoW that was an absolutely terrible healer. They let her stay in the guild, let her raid, and then gave her drops that she didn't deserve more than her male counterparts that did a much better job with less gear (I'm by no means saying women in general are bad players, but in this example she actually was). Now, the difference here is that she knew the guild leader IRL, in which case I understand keeping her in the guild and maybe even letting her raid (even though it reflects poorly on the guild and hurts us in raids... I've always thought that atmosphere is more important to the health of the guild than success). However, even knowing her in real life I was ****ed that she was getting priority on drops, so if he didn't even know her IRL... well, that would have been a whole different thing. So, if a guy, who's had experiences like this decides that maybe he wants to try and work the system to get some drops (and I'm not saying I have, but I understand why someone would), and it works... more power to him. Again, the moral of this story is that treating people differently in game ruins the atmosphere, so treat everyone the same, don't make assumptions about gender based on the character's, and everyone comes out a winner. |

As long as the player doesnt act as he is a Girl IRL it doesnt mather at all.
Why should it, sure thing its handy to be Sure what they are IRL for cyrbing and locking for a date, but then its exist bether mediums for both of does things so why not play the game instead __________________

Your reaction was definitely warranted, I just hope you weren't planning on actually changing his mind. ^_^; I also hope he actually believes what he's saying and not saying it cause he presumes it's what the other posters want to hear. I hate it when that happens XD __________________ CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 940 (3.0GHz Quad-Core) GPU: GeForce GTX 280 (1GB - 512bit) RAM: 8GBs DDR2 800

I had a sicko in my FFXI clan that wanted to meet up with a 14 year old girl, he also verbally harassed her on vent. I just like to return the favor to these f*ed up people who do favors thinking it will in some sick fantasy way help them get laid. __________________ ![]() I poo rainbows foo |

If only girls played girls chars we would see almost none around. The woman population that play games are a lot fewer then the man population that play. Take my guild as example we are like 30 guys and only 2 girls (both married with guys of the guild)
Remember when people pay to play they whant to play anything that comes to their mind, male or female. And take no offence, i do have played many times both types and still like more to see a girl most of the time on my screen then a dude with (usually) a weird movement i don't like. |

I don't care at all whether someone wants to play as a character of another gender. If they do it only to get free stuff out of people, boo to them and the people that fall for it. What they want to play as in a game does not tell me the type of person they are. My interactions with them will tell me that.
Tried playing as a male (since I definitely understand the logic that some people don't want to stare at an avatar they don't like), but since I kind of put myself into the role of the character I'm playing, it's usually not very satisfying. So more power to the people that can role play as another gender. I've been mistaken for a G.I.R.L a lot, and I've learned not to bother correcting someone's assumption unless they care enough to ask. Had some weird incidents with two dudes in Maple Story (although lots of jerks are in that game anyway). And again in Trickster, a guy in my party gave me a ruby and said "girls like jewels, right?" -_- To this day I'm not sure if he was being creepy or trying to be nice. Another thing I've learned is to not take stuff from other players unless it's an equal trade. Even when in parties I don't take many of the drops since I very rarely "need" anything or feel that I did a lot of the work. It's great when someone gives out of kindness, but I don't often take. For fear that by some unspoken agreement the giver feels I'm obligated to cyber. XD Um, in conclusion, too much emphasis is being placed on the player's RL identity, and not enough on their skills or personality in game. |

they can pick whatever gender that they want. there would be no diversity in the game whatsoever if players couldnt choose between male/female, you might as well rip RPG right out of MMORPG this is the most useless thread ive seen posted so far, and yet its gone 6+ pages. close this please. this thread is now about cake. discuss. Why cares about if you play the opposite sex in a game? Some mmo's make males all look ****ty/the same, so why not play a women? Hey, it's a digital model, no one should care too much about how you look and focus on the gameplay. I've always stoodby people that like to play any gender.
And cake is delicious. What is you favorite? |
