Haha, 15 hours per day playing and you think you still have a life?

Let's say you sleep the normal 8 hours per day (what I doubt) 15+8=23, so you have 1 hour for work or study or meet who lives in you house, 1 hour isn't enought even to talk to a good friend... This have a name: addiction. Hopefully this game won't give any advantage for this type of way of playing. They will get to the max lvl first? Offcourse, and also get the best stuffs first, but this time not them will be able to get there.

Everytime i enter this topic i see more and more posts that makes me think if the only reason for it's existence is the fear of get a real competition from the gamers that have less time to play.

Lucky for me I can play at work, so scrape off about 8 hrs from that GF might be playing from time to time as well. Anyway I'm done with this thread and even after all this people are still going to generalize just by amount of time played, gg.

No, casual games are like Guild Wars. No competition amongst players around your level. All laid-back according to your speed, your missions, your quests. There are so many people playing it you're bound to easily get a whole party within minutes any time you ask for one.

Aion would be awesome if they took the most prominent advantages in GW.

But time is actually the point of this thread, how casual can a Koream mmo be? Offcourse it will allways be a problem, specially becouse there are already some beta testers talking about the grinding becoming extremely difficult after lvl 15, and that is nothing what we call casual, specially when i saw a mage telling he was using his entire mp to kill 1 mob (seems they gaved the mobs some uber high amount of hp), this isn't casual, or they are making only questing worthing the effor to grind, and the grinding (by grinding i mean stay killing mobs in a party all the time, insteeed of do quests) worthing nothing. Yeah, the time you need to get a decent char is everything, and what scare many players, specially the one's that know other's nc games.

As me i can see you know Lineage 2, so you also know that normal players there get stuck around lvl 60+ forever, unless they avoid pvp all the time (what is pretty hard, and kills the only fun left on that game), the xp gain is too lot and the xp loss for every time you die too huge, isn't exactly hard see people delvling, after somerounds of pvp.

There's rules someone need to follow to archive that goal... and it's not as simple as alot of people make it sound like, especially when it's about MMOs.
I'm sorry quoting you if you didn't mean it like that... though I wanted to post it anyway.
"Secondary" doesn't mean I don't take my gaming 'seriously', But it's a game something I do for fun and entertainment while hanging out with other peeps in a cool imaginary place. That said I will not lead an unhealthy life or make myself play until I fall alseep on my keyboard... (seen that a lot in FFXI)

Yes what's fun is different for everyone and that's why there's certain limitations to the game, but if you are playing this and work your butt off every day and getting frustrated or enjoying a massive ego rush, I do think you have gone too far. This is how I felt in FFXI and at the end of the day it just wasn't 'fun' anymore it was like having a RL job, and I'm not doing that again.

Five hours isn't actually this much. And it was never the case to compare the wrong with the wrong. That's why I talked about media-addiction in general in my last post, not only MMORPGs. I never said watching too much TV would be better than playing MMORPGs too much, did I?

Quote:
but that topic is so lame...
we all kinda hardcore... we spend so much time in the forums of an unreleased game.... maybe a little bit strange also dont yall think...
Why so? I'm having fun. And actually... I just read Posts and reply to them... doesn't really cost me much more than 5 minutes to read through a post and reply. Do you think I spend 5 hours a day in a forum and keep pressing F5 until someone replies to my posts or something? Why would I do something boring and stupid as that?

Quote:
u cant make a PVP game for both sides...
a hardcore player will always expect to win against casuals if not he will quit cuz doesnt get a reward for his time spend IG...
been like this in every i repeat EVERY other pvp game... AION wont be else
Sorry, but this is getting stupid and it happens because of your illogical postings. I've already said that there will be different ways to play Aion and also... why not just wait and see at release? It's so contra-productive to try discuss about how bad or good something is that hasn't even happened yet.
I believe that Aion won't fail at this point (while most of any other MMO probably wont be), that's why I'm interested in it. The only reason you have brought into the thread to think like that about Aion is, that it's korean, while they themselves have already stated the opposite of what you're talking about and even give proof with alot of released information. You already have failed in that topic several times... if I was you, I would just start thinking about accepting that I'm wrong *****ing for such a stupid reason and learn from it.

if i play CS alot and still loose, well i just quit then... doesnt matter if i myself suck or the game is too casual... it wont be fun for me...
but if play CS the first time... i surly dont expect to be very good... maybe get some kills thats all... and i sury dont expect that i can win against a organized clan ...
but u guys kinda expect this from AION...
Yea, because the landscape of CS is so enjoyable... you can interact with other people relaxing and having a nice talk under a beautiful cherry tree... do interesting quests and make strategies for many of versatile kinds of bosses. Read a good book or talk with someone while growing up a bit.
True, that comparison isn't infelicitous at all, it serves your point perfectly right... .. .

Quote:
and honestly guys... u ever played any games at all??? the one playing more will naturally be better... or u wanna say MMOs require absolutly no skill
even my grandma would own in CS if she would play it all day... gosh my father is a fcking pro with solitär and superfast in minesweeper; not cuz he so skilled or inteligent...
no he just has a fcking boring job...
I don't really think that you yourself know where you are going here and I don't even get it myself, but one thing is clear. You're kind of lost in your own argumentation.

Quote:
buuuut yes u can have ur fun... in DOAC the progamers got bored of slaying newbs soon so what did they do... they arranged matches against other pro gamers... they were somewhere in the wild just grouppvping each other...
they left the zergfight for the others...
same in L2... a big serverruling clan doesnt give much about lowbie clans... they fight clans of same strength and ppl of same lvl and equip...
so lowbie clans mostly stay out of serverpolitics but have their small politics... they just go find another lowbie clan and war them
L2 is a failure for many reasons. Infact, most of MMORPGs are. But that's just natural since the genre is very young and most of all companies only made 1-2 of those "big" games yet. I'm interested in Aion because I think by reason of Aion a huge change could be happening. I'm not being excessive at this point, because no other company ever promised as clearly what NSoft did.
Why not just give them a chance instead of being pessimistic?

That's totally fine then. I'm having a similar opinion myself there. I even quit FFXI for the same reason. lol

ok last post of me in this thread!!!!

iam 100% sure AION will benefit hardcore playing alot...

- i say this cuz i just dont believe everything that devs say (after seeing so many of em lie)

- and i say this out of my 10yrs of MMORPG (mostly PVP oriented) experience...

see you all again in this thread after release...

PS: kinda proud i made a thread 11 sites long :P

what type of player will have patience to grind in abyss with all pvp any given time?
hardcore(hardcore isnt about time.is about will) that will return to same spot and pvp to keep it?
or a casual player that just want to kill few mobs or do quests that in case of death he just move to other xp spot?

also make no sense discussing about how pvp will be.
is open pvp on aion,so most times will be ppl that r ganking killing other ppl that r xping.
on castles/epic rb(if exist) will be real pvp where u can see skill of pvp partys.

little side note:L2 grinding is easy as hell.ppl get 1-75 in 1 month.
if aion is like that is gonna be very easy

Well, it depends. Every person is different. Some will go more for PvP while others for PvE. I will do both alike.

1 month with the use of either severe powerleveling and support from high level players and buffbots and/or L2walker.

Any player who just started will not hit 75 in 1 month on their own.

No way. L2 takes WAY longer than that. Even with bots! That is far from casual, even if you do think it's true.

There was a big boom exploit that I'm pretty sure they got rid of. In one day you'd be in the high 40s doing it. You needed a high level warsmith to do it for you though. There were a lot of leveling exploits people found in L2 simply because the grind was horrendous.

Oh... then again, I wouldn't know because I've never actually played L2. I've played the various private servers for a long time, but sometimes how they work is totally different than the original.
