Thats why I think the FFXI people are kind of like the "Old timers", and the others are kind of like the "kids". Not in terms of how long people have played, but because, in FFXI, it IS hard. I mean, you actually have to put effort into gearing yourself, even the lower priced equipment.

You are judged on the way you gear yourself, as well. Selling just the drops you get during an exp party, or soloing exp, would barely get you by at all. I think it would be hard to buy even the NQ(Normal Quality) equipment. And when people examine you around town, maybe before inviting you to a party, they will take into account the NQ gear you are wearing when making their decision. They probably won't want someone who doesn't look like they put any time/effort into their gear.

It's a game, yes, but it still works like the real world in terms of money. Every MMO does. If you want the money to buy anything worth while, you will have to earn it. And I definitely stick by that being the best way. I personally want to play with the people who take pride in their class, and want to gear themselves to the highest possible standards, and put the effort in to get there.

I don't think you understand the concept of money, Chu. To translate what you are saying into a RL situation, you would expect to be able to support yourself on just the change/bills you might find on the ground on the walk home? Or even the bottles and cans you find, that you can recycle?

I think its more a matter of how they control the economy and ensure its comepetive Wow's economy isnt too bad, L2's was horrible.

I would like to see a reasonble restriction put on the sale of items maybe a maximum of 100% mark up, somehting to avoid silly explosion of inflation.

All its going to take is for a farmer to markup a drop used in most crafts and BOOM raises the prices of everything.

The economy might be balanced, again, as I stated, as long as there are enough people from both factions and enough people playing both PvE and PvP.

100% agree, u were a more valuable player if u had good gear (also skill did count alot) if u had good gear and skill ppl looked up to you and that gave you a sence of pride because you knew how much work it took to get the gear and barely anyone had it, I personally dont wanna play a game where everyone has all the good gear. I got exited to play the game even more when that korean beta player said the game was very hard, because it brought some memories back from ffxi and now i wanna play the game even more, although i dont want the economy to be as bad as ffxi, but i do hope its hard to make money. i played WoW for about 2 weeks and it was soooo easy, i got bored and never played the game again.

Well if you only played wow for 2 weeks and gave up your opinion of the wow economy is meaningless...

Anyway, i don't want the economy to be flowing with money and i think you should have to work for your items and such, but there is still a limit..

You all seem to have little or no care for those more casual players that at best get 2 or 3 nights a week if that, now when i get onto whatever MMO im playing at the time i dont want to spend all of that time worrying about getting average gear or spending hours just to get some nice armour, now im not saying it should just be given away and do agree that those with more time will be most likley to end up with good gear.
If there is a crafting system that maybe allows players to craft items/gather resources/ offer certain upgrades etc that does not require you to go out and spend a long time grind/searching for the materials you need it would make it slightly easier for those players, im just wanting you to remember that not all players are wanting to have to spend all thier time making money just to stay at a competative level.

We have a decent idea of how the economy will be managed as ken choi has said endgame gear will be aquired through pvp points ( im sure they wont be something you can buy like a token )or crafting.

For those that are less pvp enclined getting some high end may prove more difficult to aquire especially if the economy isnt kept in check

When I was level 20 in Guild Wars, there was still MUCH to do. This is because the game didn't put much emphasis on exp. Apparently, Aion wants to do something similar because their level cap is 50.
